Just though I would share.
details??
Are you sure this is an actual job?
And not just a trick to get you trapped in Antarctica?
Cool beans. Helluva commute for you. What kind of work? Aren’t you a chef?
Holy cripes, Alaska wasn’t cold enough for you?
I got the offer. I still have to complete all the hoops. Physically qualifying, metal exam, dental, urinalysis and a few other things. I see no probems arising.
I will be ging the end of August for 5-6 months or so. I will be cooking.
Either way I will be cool with it. But it is a job.
Bit of an understatement, don’t you think?
Penguin wrangling, eh? Congratulations!
I have also worked on the Arctic Ocean on the North Slope oil fields. And all sorts of exotic and remote places. I love the cold and wish to write a book called the Bi-Polar Cook. This is an essential part of making the book happen.
How many people are you cooking for?
Full or heavy?
If it is heavy I am sure to pass. They may have said mental. I hope not.
Rare earth.
Will you be renting or buying your igloo?
Congrats! I’m jealous.
Exciting news! I would love to visit here, but I don’t think I could live there.
If you take the job, have an ice time.
I currently rent. It is a bad igloo market with the global warming and all.
I was watching the Attenborough documentary, the Frozen Planet, and it had a follow-up documentary showing a state-of-the-art science facility set up in Antarctica. It looked groovy, comfortable, and modern, like a University. If that’s where you’re working, you’ll be fine.
It is gonna be was nicer than my last 8 month stint on a remote part of Akutan. Although I don’t like telling people that.
