I just got trojan/backdoored.... HELP!

Thank God for Norton. Elitewrap is a tool for creating trojans. When i dl’d a copy, norton said that it had one with it! I had not seen one of these prompts, and I chose Delete, which seemed the best thing to do. (program deleted.) But, I don’t think I can be sure that this is gone… could someone tell me a way to look for open backdoors on my computer? Thank you very much…

Yes,

there is a website called The Cleaner. http://www.moosoft.com Apparently they have all the latest and greatest trojan/backdoor detectors and eliminators in their database and all is available for a free download. Unfortunately, like many other free downloads, the good shit costs money. Though I am pretty sure the free download version will be sufficient for your needs.

Another bad thing about The Cleaner is that it adds all kinds of active sensors that I assume will annoy you as they did me. I cleaned my rig, copied the file to another folder and uninstalled it, but saving it in case of an emergency.

Hope it all works out. I had trouble accessing the website earlier but maybe it was just my computer or isp. If it isn’t active for you either I would try a little later, they are a pretty well established company.

Good luck

Ok, that link is just not working. I know of some other sites but I have not personally tried their products and cannot assure you that they will work.

This site is a detector, but I am not sure whether they have a cleaner. You can try this first and see if you actually have something in there.

Here you go if you want to try some:

Thanks Wishbone, but the site isn’t working for me either. I will try it later.

Anyone else?

After struggling to NOT post this, I can’t resist…

All I can say is, “If you just got backdoored, at least he was wearing a trojan!”

Try this one, it looks like a winner.

Best bet for most stuff is to download ZoneAlarm, which will at least allow you to monitor and block suspicious outgoing traffic on your machine.

And update your antivirus software, that’ll catch a good percentage of them.

If you think you know which one you picked up, do a search on the web for removal instructions.

Good luck.

Mine was going to be “You mean the Trojans are into that, too? I thought it was just the Greeks!”

Halarious, robby…

I tried begone, which i just can’t figure out. I am downloading zonealarm trial.

I use Zone Alarm and it works great for a software firewall. No program has access to the internet unless you aprove it first. It will also let you know if someone is requesting access to your computer. Even if you get a trojan it can’t tell the person that planted it anything, because Zone Alarm will ask if the progam has access rights to the internet.
