I just lived an old joke

This is the very definition of mundane & pointless, but it made me laugh.

I’m a flight instructor, and we had great weather yesteday. So everybody came out to fly and I had many clients. I did over 6 hours in the air, which is a lot for instructing. Also moved some planes around on the ground, which is physically demanding, but doesn’t usually wear me out.

But today I woke up really sore and couldn’t figure out why. Then I remembered: one of the airplanes had a dead battery when we tried to start the engine, so I had to get out and “hand-prop” it. Just like in the old movies, you grab the propeller and whang it around to start the engine. It’s tough, and took me about ten tries.

So this morning I could barely lift my shoulders. And I found myself telling one of my co-workers…

… wait for it

I flew for six hours yesterday, and boy are my arms tired!

Thank you, thank you. I’ll be here all week - tip your waitresses.

Does it hurt when you go like this?

I thought this would be about the barrel.

One time me and a couple friends were hiking and this pouring rain came down and it was very nearly nighttime out so we pitched our tents, only to find the next morning across the next very small hill was…the wooden shelter.

Didn’t your user name used to be Shecky?

I’m sorry to hear about your pain. Sometimes working on aerobic excercize, like walking and such, helps build endurance so that odd activities (like giving a prop the ol’ heave ho) don’t leave one partially disabled the next day. Something as simple as walking on a treadmill would most likely help.

Hmmm… I wonder… If you take an airplane and a treadmill…

Never mind…
