See, I did the Couch to 5K last year (and again this year, since I fell off the wagon and started smoking again in Russia), and now I seem to have fallen in with hashers instead of doing races. Oops.
Seriously, I am meaning to do some sort of organized thing sometime, just haven’t quite yet.
I had a bit of a problem with my hip flexor but rest, a lot of stretching, and some vitamin I seems to have cleared that up. I had a nice 6 mile trail run this morning and no pain during or after. Time to plan the last three weeks before the race, one more 10 mile run this week then start to relax and just do smaller runs and add in a little more rest.
I just finished my first half marathon. I got it done in 3:11 so not quite at my goal of 3 even but close enough to be happy. I ran most of it a my 5k pace since I really dont have another pace and I think it ended up hurting me since after the water stop at mile 10 I couldn’t get my legs back going so I ran/walk 11 and then just walked 12 and 13 but I did finish at a jog.
My training fell of at the end as my partner bailed on me so the furthest I’d run before the race was 9 miles so tthis was still the longest that I’ve ever run. I don’t think it will take much for me to get to the point where I can run those last 3 miles at a 13 minute pace.
Now I’m goin to settle into a hot bath with a cheescake I baked last night.
My first half is one week from today. I’ll get a run or two in the next few days, then very little until the race. I’m not sure what time I should have as a goal, or if I should just run and ignore the clock.
Ran my half marathon yesterday and finished in 2:10:21. It was bloody hot, even with a 6:13 start time, at 70 degrees and high humidity. And there were much bigger hills on the course than we were expecting, that slowed down a lot of folks. I couldn’t believe they ran out of cups (!?) at some of the water stops, and I was in the first half of the finishers.
But it was a great experience, and I’m happy that I made my goal of a 10:00 minute/mile pace.
