I am now living with friends, 5 km from the small town of Sutton, Ontario. This afternoon, I rode my bike into town and back. My first bike ride in several years! I hope to do mare, and that it gets easier…
Did you find a nice route?
Yep. Apart from a short segment along Highway 48, where even in a car, one is in constant danger of being flattened by eighteen-wheelers, it was secondary roads with (mostly) enough verge to act as bike lanes. (I walked along the shoulder on Hwy 48; it was not a long way.)
I’d forgotten how good it was to feel the air and sense all the little changes as one passed under trees, over embankments, etc.
Good for you! I ride my bike to work - I did so today, and plan to all this week. I don’t go far, but I do go on major roads, so I always wear a helmet and obey all traffic laws.
Congratulations, Sunspace! Keep riding - it’s good for you, it’s good for the environment, it’s good all round!
I’m training to ride the DALMAC - a 5 day bicycle tour in Michigan that starts at the end of August. My route goes 340 miles, so I’m hoping to get at least 650-700 miles of training rides before then. On Sunday, I did 42 miles.
To misquote Dorie, “just keep pedaling, just keep pedaling…”
Having a low-stress route makes all the difference for me. That’s really cool.
