I just thought it was interesting how many posts could not follow the simple instructions of the OP at all

Threads are like children: You create them and point them in a direction but then they’re gonna do what they do even with your attempted guidance.

Anyone who can’t handle that and is gonna get mad about it should just start a blog and mod out all the pesky comment discussions they don’t approve of.

But speaking of Blockbuster, they were even in Bangkok back in the day. I never used them, and they deserved to go out of business, because they took it upon themselves to censor movies.

Y’know, we could turn this thread into “Random stories about Blockbuster” just to annoy the OP…

You missed one:

Yes, that’s right: the OP arguably broke his own rule, and talked about a video store that has closed.

Well, I’ve got some great stories of the minuscule SuperbVideo on Monroe Street, where, no matter how I tried to broaden their cinematic world, my (very young) kids would clamor to borrow The Rocketeer for the thirtieth time…

… but, of course, I would never break the rules and tell those stories.

I disagree. The store describes itself as temporarily closed (due to the pandemic). The fact that this temporary closure might end up becoming permanent does not mean the store has currently gone out of business.

Okay, fair enough. It’s Schroedinger’s Video Store.

That would be the video store that simultaneously has, and doesn’t have, a copy of the movie that you went there to rent.

I’ve been noticing how many threads would be painfully boring if people didn’t expnd on their answers.

The first one I saw:

“Are there Bible verses that Jews and Christians disagree on the meaning of?”
YES.

(That was post #1. The thread ended there.)

Just do it as a poll. You only need one option :-

Are there still any video rental stores in business in your area?

  • Yes

…then just look at the poll count thingy.
