I just told some Shriners to go to hell

Do you have any other online citations for those facts, Evil Captor, other than places with axes to grind against the Freemasons?

Before anyone else comes in to call hlanelee an asshole, I’d like to point out that she more or less admitted that herself in the OP. I don’t think she’s pitting the Shriners here, I think she’s pitting herself. And with good reason. Still, the first step to being a better person is recognizing your faults, right?

OK I found your cite for you, Evil Captor.

It’s on an anti-masonic web site that quotes the Orlando Sentinel in a series that ran June 29, 1986 thru July 3, 1986 regarding alleged wrongdoing in 1984.

Here’s the only thing I could find by googling “Shriners Florida”:

Not much of a cite, huh?

Hey, maybe the Shriner charities are a swindle, maybe they aren’t. But we all agree that they sacrifice Christian babies to Baphomet, right? I mean, surely nobody’s going to need a cite for that?

I’m eternally grateful to the work of the Shriners.

Notice that they spend more than they take in.

I just did a search because I was interested. I found the OS series, but you have to “buy” the full text, which I won’t do, but I offer them up in case anyone else does:

STATE LOOKS INTO SHRINE FINANCES REGISTRATION, METHODS OF FUND RAISING AT ISSUE

SHRINE LEADER: NO INTENT TO FOOL ANYONE

SHRINE CENSURES BAHIA TEMPLE FOR MISLEADING PUBLIC

The letter of censure

SHRINE TEMPLE PROBE NOW DUE IN THE FALL

RATING SERVICES SEEK INFORMATION ON SHRINE

This is the link to the search, where you can find several more articles, along with a ton of letters to the editor.

Here is some info from charitable watch groups:

Give.org Shriners report

Charity Navigator’s report

This is a link to the American Institute of Philanthropy page that outlines criteria for ratings. To get their Charity Rating Guide costs three dollars and it apparently sent via mail. As far as I can tell from other sites, AIP continues to give them an F rating, mostly because of the size of their assets, which are considerable.

Finally, here is the Shriners own response letter to a 1996 Money Magazine article (which I could not locate a copy of), as well a letter from Lewis K. Molnar, Executive VP of Shriners at leats at the time, and now CEO.

Personally, I have no opinion. I just thought I’d offer the information up because, sadly, I have no life, not even on Friday nights, and it seemed far more interesting than writing my third paper on Mrs. Dalloway in a year and half (same prof, so I can’t even recycle…fuck!).

I’m not gonna argue with you that the Shriners Hospitals do good work, 'cause I agree, they do. I just want to point out that the fact that they spent more money than they took in may be a reflection of the current state of the economy, and may not necessarily hold true permanently. I did a cursory search for older figures but didn’t locate any. I would be interested to see their books for the last twenty years, or even the last ten. One years worth of statistics does not a pattern make (either positive or negative [pattern, that is]).

According to the give.org site, their total assets are a whopping $9,367,630,000, with net assets coming in at $9,260,446,000.

hlanelee-- What you needed is a good pop in the mouth for that kind of behavior. You took a sincere apology and turned it into an attack on your little ego. Grow up!

Now I don’t know that it was a “sincere apology.” Please note that hlanelee said that the Shriner smiled smarmily before saying “sorry” to him/her. A smarmy smile usually indicates anything but sincerity.

It’s possible that any smarminess was overlayed upon the event by Hlanelee’s own attitude. When you’re really pissed-off, every smile seems smarmy.

Well, if he was wearing one of those little hats with a tassle then fuck him, you did the right thing, he shouldn’t be out in public with that tassled hat. Looks like a damn terrorist or something.

For being mouthy? Jesus, I hate to see what you’d call out the firing squad for. hlanelee has admitted he or she was wrong. What you need blood as well?

hlanelee definately do apologize if the opportunity arises.

Let get this straight ** hlanelee **: You told high ranking freemason to go to hell?? Good luck finding a job anytime soon. And ** Evil Captor **, yes the Freemasons are trying to take over the world, along with their allies like the Artic Nazi’s, the Illumnati, Amway, The World Zionist Conspiracy, ect,(Hey, I gotta know my competion.) and their Children’s Hospitals are a front for there actions - but they are a really good front, helping lots of children, which makes the cover even more effective.

Am I the only one who see’s whats obviously going on?

The hospitals are a front. Sure, they help the children, what with the burn centers and paralysis rehab and whatnot.

But they’re brainwashing them, too. Where else would they get the Next Generation of Evil Minions?

I would have to apologize to anyone I had snapped at, no matter what the reason, and I had no knowledge of the investigations cited, but working in the health profession I’ve gotta say thank God for Scottish Rite Hospital and the Shriners who support it.

We send an average of 5 kids there a week out of our ER. That’s a lot for a small town like Dallas, Georgia. The Shriners get whatever change I have in my car whenever I see them at the intersections here, and altough it’s not some phenomenal amount, I feel good giving it.

Q

Good point, Quasimodem - as annoying as it is to be asked for donations by strangers, let’s not forget that there are good causes out there needing our help. In Dallas, TX, our fine city just passed an ordinance against panhandlers - which also prevents firefighters (one of which is my husband) from “passing the boot” at intersections to raise money for charity. As idiotic as that sounds, it’s true.

9 BILLION? Geez…

Glad to see one of you humans sees the truth. Now, if you want to be “protected” from their forces, I may have a deal for you . . .

It doesnt sound idiotic at all. Intersection-based charities are extremely annoying, and IMunsubstantiatedO, dangerous.

If they would just keep off the intersections I would at least consider donations, but as it is I completely pretend they don’t exist, even if they are talking to me.
