I will go to church in a little while and I will put an extra dollar in the collection plate. I would rather do this than put it in a hat on the street. God will forgive me.
Maybe, Maybe not - depends on your God.
“Nor will people say ‘Here it is’ or ‘There it is’, for the Kingdom of God is within you.” — Jesus
You’re an egregious idiot, you know that? Either that, or you’re trying to be funny and failing miserably.
For some reason it creeps the hell out of me when people approach my car – it’s like I’m trapped, seeing as I’m at a red light and all. It’s almost okay if it’s firefighters, but there are various church and school groups that are out doing this ALL THE TIME around here and it scares the hell out of me to see these people, including kids no older than 12, dodging cars. If you knew how people drove around here you’d be worried too.
The Shriners are okay, but I never see them out collecting here. And I won’t give to some other mysterious church group on the spur of the moment, because whatever good thing they’re trying to do, I’d have ethical problems with giving money to groups which are diametrically opposed to people like me.
May I add to this? I think the OP is really sorry that he/she lost their shit on the Shriner guy. I feel for the OP- if you’re down on your luck that bad and every single penny counts, it tends to make you stressed to the point of being irrational. I hope things look up for you soon. I do agree that if you see the guy again you should apologize, but otherwise just take it as a lesson that you lost your shit over what’s really a non-offense and you need to get it together FAST before you do something worse (or violent).
For the record, Dread Cthulhu, although i realize your post was in jest, I don’t know much about the anti-Masonic stuff and the conspiracy stuff, etc. I encountered the story in the general media when it broke back in the 80s and was amazed at how little coverage it got back then. I’m just not very interested in the conspiracy stuff.
Nyarlothep gibber gibber! Gabba-gabba hey! Aiee!
Don’t the children have enough hospitals as it is?
I’m going to assume you’re missing the point and not trolling. It’s not the number of hospitals, it’s the care that’s given and the research that is done there. All that has to be funded somehow, and we do that by private donations and by support of civic groups of all kinds, not just the Shriners.
Sorry if I am being a bit terse here, but I have made the point before that a very rewarding part of what I do is to help sick children feel better. I did a clinical rotation at Scottish Rite Hospital in Atlanta and let me tell ya’ it was an eye-opener.
Sorry that we got away from the original intent of the thread, but this needed to be said. I hope that all of you who have little ones never need the services of a Scottish Rite or St. Jude’s, but if you ever should, thank the Lord they will be there, and thank Him also for everyone who ever placed a quarter in one of those cups or firemen’s boots.
Thanks

You think I was posting in jest?? And of course you didn’t hear much about it; the Mason’s friend in The World Zionist Conspiracy control the media. Still, their children’s hospitals do much good work, making it an even more nefarious cover-up.
Is it fair enough to say that anti-Mason jokes get really, really old really, really fast?
Question: Why do y’all keep saying that the OP yelled at an old man? Can you only be a Shriner after a certain age?
Captain Can’t-spot-a-joke and his trusty sidekick decide to rescue the thread*!!!*
Quoted in the same thread as Q.E.D. is an undeserved honor, but thanks!

I see this thread has about died out.
I am on vacation in Maryland, and will soon be in Las Vegas. Otherwise I would have been on this like Ugly on an Ape.
It has all been said before. The Shrine does good work (BTW I joined at age 40). Make a note of the phone number in case you ever need it.
Great care. Free. Never a “need” or religious test. No questions about being related to a Mason.
Help a kid. Break a crutch. Write down the number.
(I will be staying at the pyramid-shaped hotel in Vegas. If ever a building was calling out for a Shrine temple, this one is it.)
Tubalcaine!
Here is what Charity Navigator has to say about Shriner’s Hospitals for Children. I’m guessing you probably might need that “bwanket”.
Hey! Everyone knows it’s the ASPCA that raises money for the fat cats. They don’t even lie about it.
First post for ya trock?
