I just watched AVP..the splash screen

Forgive me…I’m catching up on my movies.

Next is The Lord of the Rings…

Anyway.

On the screen where it says 20th Century Fox.

At the bottom…it say’s a news corporation or somesuch…

WTF?

News Corporation is the mega-conglomerate that owns, among other things, 20th Century Fox.

Ahh…

So News Corporation is a title.

I thought Fox was injecting the fact that they were a “news” first thing into their movies.

Thanks.

(Mod: I think the title of this thread should be changed to something more descriptive if it stays open, perhaps “20th Century Fox logo question.”)

In this age of corporate ownership, studios loudly trump who owns them on their logos.

Fox, as mentioned, is “A News Corporation Company.”

Warner Brothers is “A Time Warner Company” (formerly “An AOL Time Warner Company,” “A Time Warner Company,” and “A Warner Communications Company”).

Columbia and TriStar are “A Sony Pictures Entertainment Company.”

Paramount is “A Viacom Company” (formerly “A Paramount Communications Company” and “A Gulf+Western Company”).

Universal (owned by the NBC arm of General Electric) and MGM (formerly independent, now owned by Sony) do not announce their owners, although that may change now with MGM. Universal does use an NBC-Universal logo on their television programs, however.

Warner was also once referred to as “A Time Warner Entertainment Company.”
