I just watched the most seriously WRONG anime ever.

Well, folks, I’ve watched a lot of anime that some people might consider seriously wrong. I’m a bit of a connoiseur: I’ve seen The Ping-Pong Club, Excel Saga, Colorful, Cool Devices, etc, etc. None of them come close to… Puni Puni Poemy.

I should have expected it: The director of Excel Saga, making something without the restriction of “Hey, this is actually gonna be on TV, clown!”. Just in case some of you might want to watch this but haven’t, spoiler box follows (note: little to no plot discussed, little to no plot in actual show):

Ok, where to start…
Well; there’s the 10-year old lesbian, the part with the crucified Nabeshin, Kumikumi and Aibo (yes, the robot dog), the pantsless alien with a ball dangling down past his knees, the pantsless alien with TWO balls hanging down past his knees, the family of sisters who regularly bathe together and other gratuitous fan service, seemingly random violence, bizarre anime references, Poemy getting the “Mickey Mouse treatment” from the sister with massive tits, to which said sister can’t stop referring, that’s not even the tip of the iceberg and it’s only TWO EPISODES LONG.

And it even comes with a patch and a poster. I’m so happy.

How does it compare to Bible Black and LA Blue Girl?

Excel Saga and PPP are the only anime’s i like…maybe i’m perverse.

Based on Tentacle Monster’s description, I’d say that’s a possibility…

To be fair the content isn’t nearly as shocking/offensive as it looks typed out. It just all seems to unrealistic and crazy, which is the intended appeal of the show.

You forgot the whole suspenseful buildup with the orbiting egg in space, which was then promptly dinged away by a bigger spaceship in the beginning of the second episode.

And the “magic wand” is a fish.

And the OPENING CREDITS! Good God!

Psst! You might wanna try Bobobo~bo Bo~bobo. Just a-sayin’, you know? :wink:

When I saw that title, I just knew this thread was going to be about Puni Puni Poemi. One of my favorites as well, though it is best to watch while intoxicated.

I have to ask, what’s the

“Mickey Mouse treatment”?

11811:

Okay, think of the basic shape of Mickey Mouse’s head: two big round things on top of another big round thing. Now, the bottom round thing is Poemy’s head… figure it out.

Tabby_Cat: I’ve heard of Bobobobo Bobobo. Did you know there’s a PS2 game based on it? Come to think of it, I think Excel Saga would make an interesting game. “I, Koshi Rikdo, hereby give permission to turn the Excel Saga video game into a stealth-action game.”

I’d say it’s even more wrong than La Blue Girl or Bible Black. However, I’d say the live-action version of La Blue Girl is more wrong, just on concept.

Anyone here got The Ping-Pong Club box set? Would you say it’s worth the 60 or so bucks?

A few weeks ago I was looking at a post on LiveJournal, and I could have sworn that the person was talking about Puni Puni Poemy. Something about a 10 year old girl and having sex or rape or something that was equally disturbing.

Truth?

and people wonder why I stick to medieval anime…although Berserk had it’s moments.

kushiel: Well, it’s nothing explicit, but it is implied. No rape, though.

Um, doesn’t the last part of the second episode sorta qualify? You know, the whole affair with your namesake? ^^;;

Kobayashi, ah! :smiley:

Tabby_Cat: Oy. Well, I guess it is, kinda-sorta. It’s not explicit, but it’s clearly not consensual.

I’m usually the last person to ask this sort of question, but why the fuck would anybody want to watch something like this?

Um, think of it as kind of a non sequitur… A whole 2 hours worth non sequitur. It’s like an anime 1920’s style “Death Ray” thread gone wild, with pie. And fanservice. And giant mecha. And outer space. And tentacle monsters. ^^;;

Kobayashi, ooh!

It was either that or American Idol?

He’s Michael Jackson.

So when the user named Tentacle Monster starts a thread entitled ** I just watched the most seriously WRONG anime ever**…well. I wasn’t sure if I should respond with glee or fear. Unfortunately (or fortunately), I’ll probably never see it. FLCL is too weird for hyperjes, she barely tolerates it being in the same house with her. I’m not going to even start on how she feels about my Evangelion box set. Lets just say that she has tried to give it away several times. And nearly succeeded.

Whew, I was afraid it was from pulling on Poemy’s ears…

So they screwed up with the whole “Attack Pearl Harbor and start WW2 on the US”…

now they’re attacking with Anime. I have a 13 year old nephew who is seeing things animated that hopefully he’s years away from seeing in real life…er, or ever…
