This morning I turn on the radio to try and catch the results of our local special election held yesterday. After a minute or two, our local station cuts to ABC Network News at the top of the hour. AAAgh - In about 90 seconds, the reporter:

States that a piece of legislation “winds it’s way through congress”. Now I know that doesn’t look so bad on the screen, but read it again, and instead of mentally pronouncing “winds” like winding a watch or a clock, try it as “winds” like moving air. That’s how the reporter, on a pre-recorded national news broadcast pronounced it. I may be being whooshed, but I don’t think they’re that clever at ABC Radio.

The conclude with a report on how “the hollywood press” watched a screening of Star Wars III (nee XI) last night. Instead of reporting if the crowd reacted favorably, or getting opinions, he (the reporter) proceeds to reveal major plot points and describe the main pivotal scene. Oh, great - thanks a lot, SOB. It was just a nationally broadcast “Nah, Nah, I saw it first, and to prove it, let me spoil it for you.” :wally
