I am so sorry for your loss. I lost my mother/best friend 16 years ago when I was 25. I still miss her but the ache is duller now and I’m able to think more of the happy times than the loss itself.

Thanks, all. First night went better than I thought it might. I stayed with my dad, in my childhood bedroom, in fact. Dads holding up well. Although as I type this, I can hear him crying in the shower. This just isn’t right.

We are lucky to have a lot of local support in friends and family, and I’m pleased to count the dopers amongst that.
