What is MPSIMS?

Where you currently are.

You’ve been a member for 4 years and never noticed the forum with the most posts?

Mundane Pointless Stuff I Must Share (MPSIMS) - “For general discussion: from frivolous chatter to deep thoughts; from harmless diversions to life-changing announcements.”

Dana loves science, so obviously can see no reason for MPSIMS. I love science and only come here when I’m curious about who might have died recently or I am linked by another forum. :stuck_out_tongue:

One quibble with that flowchart: Satellites might not precisely blink, but they can change brightness rapidly, such as in an Iridium flare.

If Dopers would like to see the flowchart that was posted on June 9 (which I presume was the OP’s intent, rather than merely sending them to the APOD site, where they will see the latest picture), they can use this link: APOD: 2014 June 9 - How to Identify that Light in the Sky .
