I love this Keurig coffee maker.

I have a toothbrush in the kitchen for cleaning aquarium stuff.
This morning it was next to her Keurig and the bristles were suspiciously brown.

Some of the Kcups, perhaps the less expensive one, have coffee dust floating in the cup.

There’s also some cleaning pod thingy you can buy that will clean the needles and the pod holder, but I have no idea whether they make a difference, vs. just scrubbing those surfaces.

In the summer we also get iced tea pods and run them over a large cup of ice.

Why not just put some tea bags into a gallon jug of water, and set it out in the sun for an hour or two?

We do that too…we just don’t always remember to do it, plus with three teenagers the couple of jars we do at a time never last until I get home.

OOooohh… me too. I think I’ll pick one of those up after we’re downstream of tax season and see how it does. 100% stainless steel = no plastic taste! (Even my French press has a plastic lid and yeah, I can taste it.) Thanks Happy!, And Beck, if you get one soonish, let us know how it fares.

Get a percolator with a spout.

If you take sugar and/or cream in your coffee, you can direct the spout so that the coffee swirls around the inside of the cup. No need to stir with a spoon! (I learned that from my dad.)

I love my K-cup machine (I got a Cuisinart). It’s lovely. We also have an OXO Barista Brainfor when we know there will be lots of coffee needed.

I like my coffee darker, so I’ve been experimenting to find a good dark roast. I like the SF Bay coffees quite a bit.

San Francisco Bay coffee is very good. So is the stuff you get at Costco.

My go-to coffee is Community Coffee. We alternate between the French Roast and the Dark Roast, but I prefer the French Roast because it’s their darkest roast. As I’ve said in the past, I’ve always liked the coffee when I go to New Orleans, and it’s often Community Coffee. A two-pound bag costs $14.99, so it’s only $7/pound. If you order $60, you get free shipping. Plus they often offer free shipping on smaller orders. Plus they have 10%- 15%- or 20%-off sales. In August I ordered 20 pounds of coffee when it was 20% off, so all of that damned fine coffee was only $6/pound.

If you’re experimenting, it’s worth a try. Sign up for email notifications to get their discount codes.

I remember that thread, because I asked a question that the OP never came back and answered.

I put the percolator that Happy linked to on my Amazon wish list. I’m already looking forward to my “I love this percolator coffee maker” thread. I’ll probably try the Community coffee at the same time.

It is now.

There is what I consider to be a design problem with the Keurig k-cup system. When you put a k-cup in and close the cover, the top needle punctures first. Then, top cover presses the k-cup down on the lower needle, forcing it to penetrate the cup. Since the cup material is rather tough, this can force (or blow) the grounds up into the top needle, resulting in a potential clog.

You can prevent some of this by seating the k-cup on the lower needle before closing.
