I love thrift stores!!

I took my mom to Savers today and noticed a lavender chaise lounge sofa type chair for $25. I’ve wanted one for years but this wasn’t quite the style I wanted. I was prepared to buy it though because it was close enough. Then my mom told me she had just seen one at Goodwill a couple days ago but didn’t know if it was still there. The one she had seen was $50 and was possibly not there any more.
I decided to throw caution to the wind and go to Goodwill. If it wasn’t there any more I could try back at Savers but ran the risk of the lavender one being gone by the time I got back.
About 15 minutes later I walked into the furniture section of Goodwill and saw my new chair!!! It was there, in excellent condition, exactly the style and color I wanted and the entire store was 25% off so it cost me slightly less than $40!!!

I am absolutely in heaven. I love my chair and I am exhausted and need to go to bed but my chair is more comfortable than my bed.

All three dogs love it too. Here is Iggy, claiming it as his throne.

Very nice!

That’s a very comfortable nook you set up there.

If I were you, I’d throw a comforter over it in a nice fabric and color that washes easily. The chair does not look like its cover can come off for washing.

Good find!

I found my couch at the goodwill. An exact fit for me and hubby, who are substantially the same height, not tall. Perfect for us to recline, but no can accommodate house guests, or layabouts!

It was upholstered in a hideous coloured, but virtually indestructible material. As a home sewer it was a snap to make slip overs for it! Couch $79, fabric to recover $240, still a much finer quality piece of furniture than we could have purchased for twice that.

The truth is they really don’t make them like they used to!

Well done, I share your joy! It’s like finding treasure, don’t ya think?

I’m well known as a [del]cheapskate[/del] thrifty spender on a limited budget, and have been pretty successful at making use of second-hand stores for most of my non-grocery needs. A friend of mine found this song online and decided it should be my personal theme:

(Note: music video with some off-colour language)

Fantastic find! (The thrill of the hunt—exhilarating!) I love thrift stores, yard sales, and good stuff set out at the curb. The reason a lot of these old things are still around is because they’re of good quality and last.

Just make sure there isn’t a boa constrictor hiding all up in it!

wolfstu, one of my favorite songs!

becky the best part is that I want even hunting. I was just the chauffeur.

monstro, I love snakes! My fiance and 25lb dogs probably wouldn’t be amused though.

But shit…it was 99 cents!

It’s so comfortable, especially since it’s big enough for me and all 3 dogs without being cramped.
I’ll definitely be putting a comforter over it. These dogs shed like crazy!

I love charity shops - I have a mild kitchen utensil fetish and I occasionally find wonderful stainless steel ladles, or other gadgets such as my old-fashioned meat mincer, and thislovely Italian-made citrus juicer.

I couldn’t afford to buy these things brand new, but I love having them.
