Dude, that has okra, so the name makes sense. I’m not arguing authenticity, where do you get that idea?. I’m arguing exactly what you mention above–naming convention. If the OP’s stew had okra in it, then I could understand why somebody might want to call it an Italian gumbo. As it stands, I don’t see anything in the recipe that would make me think it’s even tangentially gumbo or Creole in any way.
