I May Have Been the Last Hold-out.

I capitulated and got an iPhone a couple of years ago because my dumb phone died.

And now I’m hooked. Not that I talk on it much, but it’s nice to have my music, GPS, and a mini-computer on one device.

I found that damn quick on my iPhone after it woke me up with a wailing siren (possible hyperbole alert) at 3 am for an Amber Alert.

Sad the kid is missing, but it’s not like I’m going to a) join a posse and find the child, or b) remember anything that happened at 3 am when I am outside.

Fair enough, but the real value of having even a cheapie cell phone is not that people can call you; it’s that you can call other people. Specifically, police, and tow truck drivers.

I mean, jut because it rings doesn’t mean you have to answer it. That is what voice mail is for. Or just don’t give out the number.
ETA I believe that by law in the US, any charged cell phone has to be able to dial 911 even if there is no paid plan on it.
