Many, many years ago we had a new girl working here, one day she showed up wearing a silver tube top that showed off her huge…tracts of land. A manager handed her a sweatshirt and asked her to put it on…she tied it around her waist. :smack:
Is she the one who sued the spermicidal jelly company because she got pregnant even after using their product on her toast every morning?
hi-de-hi-de-hi-de-hiiiiiiiiii!!!

'Minds me of the temp one company hired to handle the front desk. She was one of those nice-looking 35-ish types always on the prowl. Her third day was a casual Friday… and she showed up in what was basically a denim teddy, with a huge heart-shaped cutout on the back filled with lace fabric and revealing a total lack of any strappage.
The office manager, a VERY nice-looking 30-ish and my then-current squeeze, sent her home to change. We laughed for months about her setting out her little candy jar and cleavage to see what she could catch among the mostly male staff.

Why don’t any of these women work in my office?
Just be glad they don’t - those kind of women cause far more trouble than they’re worth for the eye candy, in my experience.
This reminds me of a fellow employee. He was late relieving me several times. Always sorry but car problems couldn’t be helped. His wife refused to drive him so he had to take the buss. Never made arrangements to make up the time. His last Saturday he called me saying around he would be late because his car would not start, and he was trying to get a ride to the hotel. This was at 2 Pm for 3 PM shift. I told him that I would be putting for the OT until he got there. His problem got worse when the Chief Engineer called around 2:45 telling me to call him if David was not there by 3 PM. I told the Chief that I already received a call from Dave about being late. After trying for several hours to get a ride he finally took a buss to the hotel.
The next Monday he was gone.
After he was gone several of the house keepers and buss boys wanted to know where he was because he owed them money he barrowed for taxi fair home after work. As engineers we were payed about three times as much as the house keepers and buss boys.
My answering the Chief’s questions may have led to his being fired, but he was screwing other employees. I still do not feel bad about his being fired. I feel bad about what he did to others.
I’m curious as to the attractiveness of said girl.m I’ve know a few self entitled women like the OP describes and the one thing they have in common is that they were all gorgeous.
I’m not saying all attractive women are like this, but I do wonder, of the women who are, how much male enablers contribute to these ladies getting to this level of self entitlement in the first place.
My ‘borrower’ wasn’t particularly attractive. In fact, she looked a little worse for the wear and I believe she had dropped some weight since hiring on a short time ago, but I’m not sure since she was there only a short time and I didn’t know her all that well. I’m sorta wondering if she had a drug or alcohol problem.
I didn’t even know her last name until HR called to ask about her.
The one that worked for me (tube top) got caught stealing. On top of that, she was an absolute moron about it too. I was young, maybe 15 or so and made a stupid comment about how much money had passed through the register that day. She said “So, like, if $5 was missing, no one would even notice” (you see where this is going). I said “If a nickel is missing, not only will they notice, they’ll call you on it”. Next day, I get a call at home asking if I know anything about the register being short five dollars. Nope, don’t know anything, didn’t think anything of it, at the time I had forgotten all about that conversation. Next day, same thing, another five dollars. Then I remembered that comment and told them about it. Tube top never showed up again. So, she basically quit her job after stealing $10. On top of that, I guess she was squatting at friend’s houses so they had no way to track her down. To this day, I always say, if you’re going to pull a stunt like that, why $10? She should have taken at least a hundred (she was probably 18 years old, that would have been 5 cartons of cigarettes). Or, even better, stopped after the first one and just kept her job since she was making a lot more than $5 a day working.
The fact that she called you up (on your vacation!?) and asked you if you were the one who reported her, and then complained (?) that she could be fired because of it, suggests that she wasn’t feeling any contrition about her behavior.
As others have said, she brought this on herself, but I doubt she sees it that way.
I’m kinda dreading that she’s gonna get canned tomorrow and call me about it. I guess I should be prepared for that.
I’m with you there - that’s a whole other level of not cool.
They never do - people like this who think the world owes them something (also known as “takers”) truly do seem to think that they deserve everything they try to scam off of other people. It never seems to occur to them that the $20 they “borrow” from people and never return was $20 that that person had to earn.
“We have nothing to say to each other. Please don’t call me any more.”
Should she call, just block that number. You will likely only receive one call at most.
That’s the first thing I thought of when I read your OP.
I’ve known people like this… they were always borrowing money for this and that, and mooching off people. In each case, they had substance abuse issues.
Reminds me of the House episode we just watched (early S2, I think) - the dimwit who thinks she might be pregnant despite using jelly… and shows House the jar of strawberry jelly. “I think we might have a neurological issue here.” “You think there’s something wrong with my brain?” “Ohhhh, yes.”
Well, I did get a guy fired once, for altering credit card receipts. A regular customer came up to me one day and wanted to know why his statement did not match the receipt he had in his hand. I brought this to the attention of the manager who, naturally, found a bale of these things, all from the one guy. Never really trusted that guy anyway, good to see him down the road.
Yeah, it might be prudent to plan for that likelihood.
Although not 100% accurate, I think it would still be truthfu if you were to tell her “Your getting fired had nothing to do with me.”
Or what Catwhisperer said.
If I were in your shoes and I if I felt an interest in helping this person toward a little self-reflection, I might say in a concerned voice “You were fired!? Why?”
Then if her response was something like “Because someone snitched on me.”
I’d say “No, what was the actual reason they gave you?”
Although this might not be a good idea if the company has policies against discussion of dismissals.
Perhaps ask your boss or HR what you should do if she calls you.
Best of luck to you. I hope you don’t have to put up with any more pestering.
I see no reason to pick up the phone tomorrow.
Change your phone number immediately! You should probably move, too, just to be on the safe side.
And since she knows what your vehicle looks like, you’re gonna need a new car.
My first real job was as a mail & supply clerk in a tiny Federal agency. 'Bout a month after they hired me, they hired a recent high school grad. Unlike I, this kid had basically no work ethic and spent pretty much all his time on the phone with his girlfriend(s). Don’t think he even lasted a month.
