I met Robin Miller from the Food Network yesterday!

I signed up for a class at Central Market here in Houston. She’s on a whirlwind tour to promote her latest cookbook. I think she said 28 cities in 34 days or something like that. We were number 22.

It was a lot of fun! She is a funny lady and a great story-teller. And a fantastic cook! We got to taste three dishes - roasted chicken with apricot glaze and a mayo-less potato salad; chicken, sun-dried tomato and wild mushroom quesadillas; and a Thai chicken salad with peanuts and lime. It was all very yummy.

And of course she autographed her cookbook for me!

I look forward to taking more classes there. Most are not so full (there were 50 people there! I got lucky and snagged the last reservation about a month in advance) so they are more hands on. This was only a demonstration, but very entertaining!

I had a great time. She told me “thank you” for speaking up and laughing a lot. I was seated right in front of her on the second row, and, being my normal loudmouth self, asked a few questions.

Has anybody seen her before?

I’ve watched her show a few times. (I’m a Food Network junkie) I always thought she looked way too thin, like bordering on anorexic though last night on the Food Network awards she looked a bit more normal. Did she seem extremely thin when you met her?

It’s great that you had that experience! Congratulations.

Yes, she was very thin, but not unhealthy.

Very cool! Ive been meaning to take some of those classes at Central Market, but every time I think about it all the cool ones (like that) are filled. What are some of the other classes like? Ive heard that hands-on classes aren’t hands on enough, and most classes are a demonstration and lecture set up.

IIRC she’s a contributor/editor/something for Cooking Light magazine, so I’d expect her to be slim.

Interestingly I just started yesterday on the series of recipes mentioned in the OP. I’m a vegetarian but my husband isn’t, and he loved the apricot roasted chicken. We’ll see about the rest!

She also creates recipes for Weight Watchers. She’s a nutritionist, too.

Tamryne, I haven’t taken any other classes yet, but I intend to. It was fun! Maybe we could buddy up sometime…
