I met Superman

Last year, Christopher Reeve came as a motivational speaker. MY school {a boarding school} has special ramps installed into a building that never had them before and made special accommodations for the handicapped. It was awesome what they did…

Christopher Reeve spoke in fragmented sentances, not fully able to speak clearly yet. The entire school sat in awe as he spoke, not only surprised he came, but the things he said- he was very inspirational.

I also read in the paper laster week that he has gained some feeling in fingers and toes and can breath on his own for as much as 90 minutes at a time. He seems to be very confident that he’ll walk again and it may not be soon… but I think I believe him now.

Maybe it will be like that commercial during the Olympics a few years ago. It depicted an awards banquet in the near future for what I think were medical researchers. And one of the honored guests, who had benefitted from their work, was there to present an award. You saw a person walking with slow, halting steps, and when the camera panned up to his face it was Christopher Reeve. Special effects of course, but oh, wouldn’t something like that be wonderful?
