I might have Bo Jackson disease!

For over a year, my right hip has been causing me great pain. I thought most likely it was due to arthritis, which I have in both knees. But it has progressed to the point where I have to shuffle my feet to walk without pain. I have been seeing the chiropractor for a few weeks now, and she is very concerned. I thought perhaps a hairline fracture in the femur head was a possibility - I’m almost
51 years old, and my mom had her first big fracture in her early 50’s due to advanced bone disease - but my chiro mentioned the possibility of avascular necrosis. Apparently, I have the classic symptoms. I will be visiting my internist and get an ortho referral, probably X-ray followed by MRI. I have done the search already and have tons of sites to read. Most of the treatment involves months of recovery and therapy.

I’m not looking for advice, because QtM always jumps on me when I do that here! But if anyone has experience with avascular necrosis, also called osteonecrosis, or even experience with hip replacement procedure, I would love to hear your comments.

Mr. Beckwall says whatever happens, we are still going to Coachella. I may be in a wheelchair, but I’ll be rocking out to Prodigy and Weezer regardless!
