I Miss Beavis and Butt-Head

apprently I can’t spell. Sorry about that. :smack:

I liked the one where they kept calling that guy “Harry Sachs” and flushing the toilet. Then he ends up tracing their phone number, calls back, and asks for their address. They give him Stewart’s. It ends up with Stewart’s dad having his cordless phone shoved up his ass.

I don’t blame Mike Judge for the lack of videos-it’s very hard to get the rights, probably. Still sucks.

From the movie:

Guy in confessional: I’m sorry, how many Hail Marys?
Beavis: A thousand! And I want you to hit yourself-right now!

Another thing - one of the YouTube clips was recorded from MTV2. Not only do they have the MTV2 “bug” in the lower right corner (which is a huge proportion of the screen as it is), during the video, a banner appears right across the middle of the screen, which says: “YOU ARE WATCHING BEAVIS AND BUTT-HEAD.” Gah! The crazy thing is that there is *already *a sizeable “Beavis & Butt-Head” bug at the bottom of the screen, but it’s covered up by the MTV2 logo!

I already cannot stand MTV (and other channels, but MTV seems to be the worst) running ticker-tapes and distracting promo ads at the bottom of the screen when I’m watching a show, but now they are running pointless announcements that take up the middle of the screen? Why don’t they just run constant ads, with a ticker-tape at the bottom of the screen saying “If this ad for Pepsi wasn’t on, you would be watching Beavis and Butt-Head right now”?

This is why I don’t have cable, and watch most of the shows I like on DVD (or BitTorrent). Why should I pay to watch a show when the network blocks out half the screen?

Rubbish.

B&B is the Three Stooges gone gross.

Daria is a depressed Groucho.

Daria was the better written show, the better animated show, & of the two, had a better supporting character cast.

B&B is vular humor.

Daria is subversive humor.

No comparison.

And that one is my very favorite. Thank you for linking it!

They actually made new Ren & Stimpy episodes. Count yourself lucky if you never saw them. Proves your point rather well, actually.

I never saw Beavis and Butthead as a social commentary against political correctness, or even just for shock value. I saw it as a funny show that made fun of stupidity. Didn’t Mike Judge basically say it was because he KNEW people like that in high school?

Oh, another favorite line from the movie:

Butthead (to Chelsea Clinton, in a seductive voice): I noticed you wear braces. I wear braces too.

I loved that show, and watched it religiously when it was on (with my DAD, even!) and so did my brother and best friend. We still quote it often.

I came upon a large in-tact (albeit crappily recorded) stash of the complete series on a “hush hush” site and grabbed them all. I was overjoyed that 10 years later (yup! 10!) I still enjoy the show as much as I did then.

Anyone else here a fan of the British show Bottom? I usually describe it to people as a live-action Beavis & Butthead set in England…with older guys. Absolutely brilliant.

Holy crap what DKW said is brilliant. There was a New Year’s eve in the early 90’s when I hosted a party for New Years. (That’s how I can peg the date, a party at my house is a rare occasion.)

It was the first time we ever saw the Cornholio episode. I don’t ever remember laughing that hard at something I’ve seen on TV before. It was the perfect storm where the guys and the wives/girlfriends also that something that crude could be so funny.

Today, even if I was the same age, I don’t think it would have the same effect.

Yes! Just last night I was watching some B&B and this similarity occured to me.

And both shows are in the Three Stooges tradition, where the main characters, who range from stupid to very stupid, spend a lot of their time perpetrating mindless, over-the-top violence against each other.

“Testy, testy, one, two… three?”

The best B&B ever was entitled Pregnant Pause. Beavis is convinced he’s prenant, when really he just needs to take a dump.

The payoff is near the end of the episode. A video comes on, and a bunch of children are sitting around a piano.

Butthead: “Life. What a beautiful choice.”

Beavis: “Life. It sucks.”

Beavis: “All these kids have one thing in common. They’re here because a couple of people did it.”

Butthead: “Oh no. Wait a minute. This is… Yanni!”

Beavis: [screams in horror]

After the video ends, Butthead is shown sitting on the sofa while Beavis is off-screen, screaming in short burts. After the end of a prolonged scream, Beavis says “Aaahhhh…” and the toilet flushes.

Comic gold, I tell you.

Not to hijack, but I loved Duckman (and B&B too). You’ll get no links from me, but all the Duckman eps are floating around BitTorrent.

I AM CORNHOLIO! I NEED TP FOR MY BUNGHOLE!

I think the Cornholio episodes hold up even without the videos included.

The Nosebleed episode still freaks me out.

Wasn’t it “Testes, testes…?”

"Now let’s see, this chick says it changes color if you’re pregnant. Maybe it goes here-"jams stick in bellybutton-“No. Okay, otra esti que la pueblar. Hmmm…maybe it-eheheheh…you’re supposed to pee on it.” Unzips pants, starts peeing on the stick. “Aaaahhhhhh better not change color…IT TURNED YELLOW!!! AAAAHHHH NOOOOOO!!!”

Love that episode.

I loved “Nosebleed”, for this line only: “Can you tell me where they keep those things, that you put in your thing, when you get your thing?”
