I Missed A Mandatory Update on my XBox 360

Because things have been in such turmoil lately, and we’ve been on the road to Atlanta almost every day to be with my now-passed away SIL, I missed this live update yesterday.

The XBox isn’t even hooked up because of this networking problem we’re still having with both mine and my wife’s computers (also have not had time to correct THAT problem yet, either), so I was wondering if I could at least hook the XBox into one of my USB ports and get it that way, or will the update appear when I do finally get it up and running?

Thanks

Quasi

I’ve got an arcade and I’ve hooked it up to the internet once in the two years I’ve had it. And that was a couple months after I bought it. I just played “Prototype” and it updated the system with that game to the new (and crappy) interface.

What I’m saying is that I’ve never had to update my 360 online to play offline games.

  1. It wasn’t mandatory.
  2. You didn’t miss it. It’ll load up the next time you acCess Live.

3: It just changes the dashboard a bit. So you can spend more money. Eh.

XBox Live updates work the same way they do in WoW. When you connect, it checks your system to see what the last update you got was, then downloads all the updates that have been made since then.

The Netflix portion of the update seems excellent. You can browse and queue movies through the Xbox now, instead of having to go to your computer separately. They also greatly improved the adaptive buffering for the movie streaming, usually only a brief second or two to adjust on the fly instead of pausing for several minutes and rebuffering.

I haven’t done the update yet, either. I have complete confidence that it’ll download and install just fine the next time I turn my Xbox on. It wasn’t a one-day-only thing.

Thanks for all the responses, everyone!

That’s a huge relief!

I don’t play the Box, but my grand son does, and I wanted to keep it update for HIM!

Thanks!
