I nearly shot popcorn out my nose, and it's "Troy"'s fault

Kalifornia too. He was truly creepy and scary as a white-trash cold-blooded killer. The “Pitt-is-too-pretty” people are woefully ignorant of his movies.

He wasn’t very “pretty” in 12 Monkeys or True Romance either, IMO.

Yeah, their relationship was strained. Agamemnon was compelled to a woman named Chryseis who he won in battle to her father a priest of Apollo. Feeling that it was unfair for the leader of all the Greek forces to be without his war booty he decided to liberate a woman named Briseis whom Achilles had won in the same battle. That’s the straw that broke the camels back.

Agreed. A disturbingly large number of people will be thinking, “I don’t wanna see no movie 'bout that dude from the Trump show!”

By Zeus, I wish Schneer and Harryhausen were producing this. I always loved how they used the Gods playing chess with the human charactors.

Hey, any movie could use more stop motion skeletons!

Oo, hadn’t thought about it at all (indifferent to the trailers), but that is a good idea!

I agree with posters above who say there’s nothing really wrong with Brad Pitt, but he’s a touch too svelt and not quite gritty enough. Sort of like the Viggo Mortensen vs. Stuart Townsend as Aragorn. Viggo has the gritty, war vet, physical presence. Townsend never would have had the requisite commanding presence.

I’m not ignorant of this trailer, in which he looks like a surfer dude, with flowing locks and all.

Hence “Da Brad”

Just to make things clear, I have nothing against Brad Pitt. I really LOVE “Twelve Monkeys” and “Fight Club” is among my favourite movies. I don’t think he’s to pretty either. It’s just that the thought somebody would cast Brad as Achilles NEVER even would have crossed my mind, so I, too, was a bit… startled the first time I heard about it.

Unless you’re slow-dancing and then you just can’t help it!

rim-shot!

Even though Pitt might not seem right, it really is hard to think of many actors that would have been better. Hugh Jackman is the only one that I’ve heard that might have worked better in my opinion.

It could have been a whole lot worse though. It could have been Ben Affleck or Keanu Reeves. Whoa.

Not so. Achilles was described as “golden-haired” in the Iliad. Furthermore, Odysseus is a redhead. Can’t get much more fair skinned than that.

Not all Greeks were/are dark and swarthy.
