I need 40 people to answer a question for my stats class

E. I named my dog Denali, it means “The Great One” He is a retired greyhound and I thought he could use a name with some dignity, after all his suffering.

The operation? Well, now I walk like a duck, but I won’t sue 'cause I’m getting a lot of laughs.

My cat, who is currently in a ball on my lap, is a Siamese. I wanted something that sounded Asian, so I named her: Tiki Tiki Tembo No Si Rembo Cherri Berri Ruchi Pip Perry Pembo (seriously) after a children’s book.

She says a rousing Meow to all of you.

(ps: you DO your stats homework?)

A little persistance goes a long way. Announcing:

“I go on guilt trips a couple of time a year. Mom books them for me.” A custom made Wally .sig!

I guess mine was D:inside joke

The first cat was named Dryfus Fund because their symbol was a lion and the cat was yellow.

The litter of 5 became D:long story, refering to the mother.

They were named **Merril, Lynch, Pierce, Fenner, and Smith **

It’s sunny today in the RSA.

BEAR…because the damn thing had no tail and it was big as hell.

btw…I’m talking about a gerbil.

I have a B – Enid was named after the kindest and noblest of Guinevere’s ladies in the Arthur stories. She doesn’t seem to feel obligated to live up to it, however.

Depending on which pet, I would fit all categories.

The A, B, C, . . . thing reminded me of the way a friend of mine names his dogs.

For males: A-Dog, B-Dog, C-Dog, D-Dog, etc.

For females: She-A, She-B, She-D, She-E, etc.

He currently has D-Dog, She-B, and She-E.

She-B gave birth to She-D and She-E, but She-D has since died of cancer.

Confusing, eh?

Pardon me while I burst into flames.

Wow–thanks to all of you so much! I wanna see if I can specifically mention Cristi and the cat named after an amp in my project.

“I need the biggest seed bell you have. . . no, that’s too big.”–Hans Moleman

I once helped some people in Hermosa Beach catch their cat, who had run across the street. I returned him to them and asked what his name was. They said they had a dog named “Rusty,” so when they got a cat they named him “Corroded.”
I also used to know an old man in Inglewood who had two cats, Troubles and Hangover. I asked “Does he drink?” The man said no, when the cat was a kitten he used to sleep on the couch and hang over the back of the couch.

When we got our guinea pig, we looked in a book of names. Not like a baby name book, but a book full of names of all kinds of things, from fictional book characters to state capitals.

We found it under “Norse Gods”–Loki, the god of mischief.

I never hate myself in the morning. I sleep till noon.

Well, I breed cats and can probably fill all of your categories for you, and qualify for about 39 of your 40 people! I guess my name choices are basically ‘E’, although they also fit into some of the other categories.

When I’m choosing names, I look for something that will look classy or interesting on a pedigree. I’ve tried several times to follow a theme in picking names, but always got sidetracked. Right now I’m going with alliteration - my cattery name (the first word in a pedigree name) starts with a ‘C’, so I’ve used Contessa, Crackerjack, Kudzu, and Cajun Magic.

At one time I was using ‘southern’ names, so had Dixie Dawn and Dixie Delight. Sometimes I combine or follow the theme of ancestor names - Dixie Dawn and Cajun Magic produced ‘Dixie Magic’. D. Delight has a daughter named Sheer Delight. One cat’s granddam was Tailor Made, so I named her Custom Made. Have a stud named Potta Gold, so named his son Spotta Luck. Have a stud named Rhapsody, named his daughter Rapture.

Got a blue cat from another cattery that uses flower names, so named her Bluerose.

Have two chocolate spotted tabbies named Snickers and Hershey.

Named a girl ‘Atalla’ after a nearby town and because I thought it sounded exotic. She had four kittens and one of them is sold to a breeder who follows a ‘monster’ theme in her cattery (a previous kitten she bought from me is named Frankenstein.) She picked the name Akasha (from Vampire series), and I decided to name them all with exotic sounding ‘A’ names, so I also have Armani, Ashanti, and Ayesha.

And then there are the current rescue cats - Duchess, because she looks elegant, Stranger because she was one, Road Cat because I found him on the side of the road, and Renfroe because that was the area she was found in.

And Oops because she was a mistake - one of the girls got out and made whoopee with a neighborhood stray - gave all of the kittens away except for Oops . . .

If you or your classmates need sources, you can join the fancier’s list (cat fancy) and ask your question there - you’ll get tons of great stories, I’m sure. I’m sure you can also try any dog breeder’s list and get the same result.

I have a firm grip on reality - now I can strangle it.

Hmmm…
Mostly C or D. All cats.

Henry. Just a name. He’s orange, he has six toes. Why not “Henry”?

Reggie. Just a name. He’s white, and fat, and stupid. Why not “Reggie”?

Missy. Petite delicate flower. Little orange kitty. Maybe that would fall under generic cute name.

Tangie. Short for “Tangerine”. Another orange cat.

Ambrose. White six-toed kitty. My dad named him. Why not call him “Ambrose”?

He was a lot older than I, but he was rich, so I married the old geyser.

E. Other…

My cat is named Oreo because his fur looks like an Oreo cookie (black fur on top, white fur on bottom and sides)

First Cat = Thud
(D) We have an open railing and as a kitten she quite often fell to the stairs below “with a thud”.

First Dog = Larry

Second Dog = Samantha
(E) Again, not named after anyone.

Second Cat = Chyrstal
(E) Not named after anyone. (We like people name for animals).

And the last addition to the family is another cat = Godzilla

B: Fictional character. Our dog (a fox terrier chihuahua cross) was named after the old comic character, Scamp (It’s full name was “Scamper Snoopy”). It was formerly a female before undergoing gender nullification surgery.
