I’m working on a home project, and I think I want maybe 100 lb. of black-and-white newspaper. Any ideas where I can perhaps get some? Workplace doesn’t have any, and I’m not aware of any friends or co-workers that have a sizable stash.
Free would be nice, though I suppose I wouldn’t mind paying a small amount to obtain it.
A recycling centre?
After all, you are re-using it.
Try to catch the guy filling up the newspaper boxes and see if he has any leftovers.
I’d make my way through the neighborhood on garbage day and take it out of the recycling bins.
I’ve never heard of Norman, OK, so I don’t know how similar it might be to Cumberland, MD. I do know that in Cumberland (a very, very small city), if you want a whole freakin’ bunch of newspaper, you call the newspaper. You explain to them what you need and why. They always have a bunch of leftover newspapers at the end of the day, and will gladly sell the old ones, by the pound, cheap.
Here in Cumberland, making the rounds on recycling day wouldn’t work, because Cumberland doesn’t have city-sponsored recycling (yet; we’re working on it).
Give your newspaper office a call and see if they can provide you with a trunkload of the absolute truckloads they send off to recycling.
If that fails, check with the local retirement homes and ask if they recycle and if they do, if they’ll let you pick up the recycled papers one week. I deliver to a home like a big apartment building, and they collect a lot of papers over a week or so.
