I need a good education podcast...

… to get me through the workday. Preferably something science-y! The two hours of Science Friday per week just aren’t cutting it for me.

This thread may actually belong in CS, but I figure “good” makes it somewhat opinion-based, but if it is felt it should be elsewhere, feel free to move it.

Thanks!

ETA: Okay, the thread title makes me sound like I just need a good education…

Radiolab is another NPR show that I love. You can subscribe to them in iTunes. It is usually “science-y.”

“Stuff You Should Know” by howstuffworks.com (Discovery Channel) is another good pick.

Here are links to a selection of free college courses/lectures.

I forgot - the “Ted” lecture series (in audio-only and video versions) is excellent as well.

There is an entire Stanford channel on iTunes now.

Well, turns out I have no new suggestions, I just have to second these. And they both have about a gazillion old episodes you can get.

Thanks for the suggestions! I have started on RadioLab now. I will be checking the others as well!

Its “sister shows” Stuff You Missed In History Class, Tech Stuff, and Stuff Mom Never Told You are also awesome. I listen to these while I work out.

I know you’re looking for science, but if you’re willing to give history a try, check out Backstory.

The BBC’s In Our Time podcast often has episodes devoted to science topics, with particular emphasis on how our understanding of those topics has evolved over time.

Skeptics Guide To The Universe.

I’m really willing to listen to anything that I feel teaches me something. Now that my lecture class is coming to a close, I am back to once-a-week This American Life, Wait Wait Don’t Tell Me, SciFri, and Car Talk- and now I have more to check out.

Thank you everybody for the great suggestions!

Lots of university lectures, in any subject you want.
Filmed right in the classroom. Watching these videos,(and seeing the students in the audience taking notes, soooo seriously and sincerely!) makes me feel 20 years old again, full of excitement at all the knowledge out there for me to absorb.
