I’m in the market for a new vacuum, my wife took the one we had and things are starting to get dirty. We had a Dyson, which I hated, it never picked up anything and would throw the cat litter out the back instead of picking it up.
I can’t afford to spend more then $200 or so, and I’d rather get a bagged vacuum. I have a membership at Costco so I can get one there if that’s the best place.
I have three floors and lots of stairs. A cat and his litter, and some hardwood floors.
Your wife took your vacuum and now you need a new one? That sucks.
Don’t bother buying the cheap ones at Walmart. They are all junk. If there is a vacuum cleaner store nearby they sometimes sell used ones. A used Electolux canister will run forever! They are good on picking up cat litter and do both floors and rugs. The bags are cheap and easy to find. A good vacuum will last 10+ years.
I don’t know good ones, but I can say don’t get the 70ish dollar Dirt Devil from Walmart. It’s been awful. Goes through belts within weeks. It’s okay on light traffic but I doubt it would do much for litter other than spitting it back out. The hose attachment doesn’t suck. It practically blows. Which some of you weirdos might like, but that’s another story.
I have two $50 Dirt Devils and I love them, but I don’t have hardwood floors. They’re almost eight years old, no problems. I also have a cheap Hoover which also does a decent job on carpets. They even get pet hair.
I use the hose attachment for the smooth floors in the bathrooms.
I used the money I saved on vacuums to buy a carpet cleaner, Bissell ProHeat. Lots better than using a rental.
(Three vacs because we live on three floors and I don’t like hauling them up and down stairs.)
