I need a web page builder an idiot can use.

Well maybe not an idiot…but I know next to nothing about web development.

I want to build a webpage where I can post pictures and videos, sell a few items, and take donations. It doesn’t have to be teribly complex, but I would like to have it look nice.

Any suggestions? How about WordPress?

I’m an idiot and I highly endorse NVu by Mozilla.

It’s free and I just cut and paste things out of web sites I like.

I’ve used GoDaddy’s Website Tonight. Very easy - hell, I can do it.

Maybe try Talkspot.com. They host everything for you and do support an online store, I believe.

I use wordpress as a website, the default theme looks good on its own, but there are tons of both free and paid themes that can be customized to suit your needs.

If you already have a hosted domain, look at your control panel if you have that option, Im not used to dealing with asp sites so I cant speak if those have it available. But look at an option called Fantasico, it loads pre canned software at the click of a button, makes for an easy installation of wordpress.

If and when you do go with wordpress, go into the settings section of wordpress and enable askimet, its a spam protection service thats free and frees you up from clearing out spam comments that usually will have ??? ??? in the body.

They also have a ton of support available from both users and wordpress themselves.

If you dont have control panel or an equivalent to fantastico , I would advise that you ask your host to install it for you , if you dont have alot of experience setting up database type programs, cause its really annoying when your trying to find out why an installation has not gone through and you get a cryptic code.

I just got a newsletter from Bravenet, and they are hawking their new service called Viviti. I didn’t check it out, but it is marketed exactly along the lines you are looking for…TRM

There are some good suggestions in here but never underestimate idiots. They’ll find ways to break the software!

My favorite podcasts are all advertising for Squarespacenow. It’s supposedly very easy to use but I haven’t tried it myself.

I enthusiastically suggest NetObjects Fusion. It’s cheap; under $50.00 (free if you get a website through 1+1 Internet). It has a WYSIWYG editor (you never see or have to deal with HTML code…unless you want to). You can make the site as simple or as elaborate as you please. It comes with dozens of pre-made templates/themes where you just punch in your data and POW! Instant Website.

I used it to set up my website (I posted a “…so whattaya’ think o’ my website?” thread a while back, if you want a look), and I am all but 'Net illiterate.

That sounds like a breast-augmentation proceure for old people.
