I have a shirt I absolutely love. It is tan with “SLACKER” emblazoned on it. Unfortunately, I have nothing to go with it in the pants department. I bought it for 10$ so I really don’t want to spend much more money. I just want a good look, and I am unusually out of ideas. I’ll list what I have:
1 pair light olive cargos
1 pair dark olive cargos
1 pair light khaki cargos
1 pair light khaki dress pants
1 pair dark khaki dress pants
1 pair khaki cargos with black flares on the outside
1 pair dark blue microfibre cargo pants/shorts
As you can see, there is very little inspiration there. I might go shopping sometime soon, and I like earthtones, preferrably cargo-ified. I like the extra storage. Can anyone lend me help with what I can match this with?
Don’t do the dress pants. They don’t go with the “theme” of the shirt, which is casual. If the printing is in black, I’d say go dark khakis with the black flares. Try to match the pants with the lettering or something.
Or, how 'bout some jeans. Maybe you could pick up some denim painter pants for cheap.
A’ight. The way I see it, no man may fault you for wearing either of the pairs of olive cargo pants, or the blue cargo shorts. You wear khaki pants with a tan shirt and it looks like you have some weird uniform on. It’d also go fine with some jeans, perhaps the carpenter type if’n you’re hell-bent on having lots of pockets.
As someone who spends a large portion of her day deciding her wardrobe, I am pleased to pop my perfectly accessorized head in here.
Jeans, darling. You need to invest in some jeans. May I suggest a pair of dark dyed with cuffs? tres’ slackerish. Just wash them in cold water and vinegar before throwing them in with other clothes in the washer. In fact, I don’t put my dark dyed in with other clothes, because I’m afraid of bleeding.
I am honestly facinated: how do you live without jeans?
How about you toss the shirt, buy some of those dark-rinsed jeans with cuffs, throw on a white t-shirt and a black v-neck sweater? Maybe a black leather jacket?
That’s the look I usually find most enjoyable on men.
If you just have to wear the shirt, make sure your shoes are tan-ish and wear it with some regular jeans. At Banana Republic they have plain tan zip-up jackets that are very cool - might go well with it.
Please, I beg of you, if you are wearing khakis so much, iron them. I hate seeing unironed, overly baggy cargos.
And don’t out a huge set of keys in the left leg pocket.
Are you kidding? You meant to say the opposite of that, didn’t you?
The blue shorts are the only pants on his list that go with the shirt. Put any of that khaki or olive (how are khaki and olive different, anyway?) with a tan shirt and it looks, as Lux Fiat already noted, like some kind of uniform.
You do need jeans. I buy only Levi’s, but I buy them used at Goodwill or thrift stores. They cost as little as a third of their new retail price, and they’re already broken-in and comfy.
