A year ago, there was a soft drink called “Josta”. It used the powers of Guarana (and caffeine) to instill energy into its’ drinkers. Then it went and got discontinued. Since then, we (my fellow Josta Drinkers in the Imperium… if you don’t know, you haven’t seen my website, and shame on you) have only heard trace mentions of its existence… we heard it was still being made on the East coast 'til one of us actually took a trip there… then we heard it was still available in San Francisco, 'til a couple friends took a trip there…
It’s been about a year since the blessed taste of Josta has passed my lips. I’ve tried to get by on Mountain Dew and Pepsi, but they hardly match up.
I’m now desperate. If anyone has any definite information about Josta, PLEASE let me know ASAP. You will be rewarded with 50,000 SPOOFE points.

To the best of my knowledge Pepsi Co quite making it completely and started producing Pepsi One.
I DID by 2 cases before they compltely disapeared from the shelves. Alas, they are now gone. If you find a place that has it for sale at a reasonable price LET ME KNOW.
I loved that stuff.
I initially tried Josta when it was stocked at a hole-in-the-wall convenience store. I liked it!
Then I found cases of it at BJ’s Warehouse Shopping. So I got a case.
We only go to BJ’s every few months. The next time I was there, it was gone.
Man it was a welcome change from cola, root beer, or the insipid “lemon-lime” sodas that taste slightly stronger than plain water.
Maybe the name of the flavoring, guarana, reminded people of too much of guano. (When one of my officemates saw that first can, he said, “It’s flavored with guano? Gross!”)
It’s not JUST the guarana, either… I’ve experimented with other guarana-flavored beverages since the Dark Day when Josta was discontinued (mostly energy drinks, I think), but they didn’t taste ANYTHING like Josta did. Not even close. They were actually pretty bitter.
Anyway, we need to petition Pepsico to continue making Josta. I mean, how many Pepsi lines do they need? Pepsi One and Diet Pepsi are practically the same friggin’ thing, for crying out loud!
Oh well… the succulent flavor of Josta may never grace my lips again… alas, alas!!
You know, I initially just glanced at this thread title, and, via a rather profound brain fart, thought it said “I NEED JOCASTA!!!” Mused I, “Now there’s a man in touch with his neuroses.”
But, rather than the Freudian cavalcade I had hoped for, I see it’s a thread about soda, and one to which I can contribute nothing useful, at that.

You’re Josta-starved. If I know a warehouse store with a few pallets buried in back (deliberately, by a Josta-loving foreman), and i tell you about it, you and your friends would clean the joint out. I’d have to buy a whole pallet to assure myself a supply of this now-rare elixir.
I, on the other hand, am not Josta starved enough to consider such an extreme action. Not when I know I can just ask the morning manager (anyone who volunteers to open the store in the morning obviously has little interest in Josta) if he has a case or two out back. And doubly not when he is so grateful to move a couple of cases of a discontinued item that he gives me a 10% discount for the purchase.
