I need music recommendations!

OK so here’s the deal, people. I’m coming to the end of a 10 month apprenticeship program with a non-profit and we’re all supposed to do what’s referred to as a presentation of learning. For my POL, I wanted to combine pictures, quotes and clips of music on four areas I’ve learned about. If you know a really great song I can steal just, say, a stanza or two from on the following topics, I would be VERY grateful.

  • Integrity
  • Procrastination
  • Leadership (and creating community change)
  • Learning

My only request would be that they’re not really loud, since I’ll be incorporating them into a powerpoint presentation. Also if you could quote the specific piece you think fits best, it would help me out.

  • The Ant and Rubber Tree song (High Hopes I think it is called?)
  • Accentuate the Positive - great song from the 1940’s or 50’s
  • Biko by Peter Gabriel (“you can blow out a match, but you can’t blow out a fire - once the flames begin to catch, the wind will blow it higher” about fighting apartheid)
  • Missionary Man - Eurythmics - “my mother told me good, my momma told me strong - she said be true to yourself and you can’t go wrong”

There are countless others, but this is a start…best of luck.

There’s a Cloud Cult song I was listening to while scanning the SDMB (oddly enough) in which there are the following lyrics: “There are a million things/ I’m supposed to do today/ but I’ll do none of them/ because there a million things done to me.” Works for procrastination, I think. (Called “A Million Things” and there are quiter moments, although it gets a little spazzy at the end).

I’ll see if my super-shuffle gets anything else.
