Everyone I have EVER asked has NEVER heard of these books! Talking bout the His Dark Materials trilogy by Philip Pullman. (Includes The Golden Compass, the Subtle Knife and The Amber Spyglass.)
Someone SOMEWHERE must have read them and liked them as much as I do! No one I have talked to as of yet
a.) knows what I’m talking about
b.) knew Philip Pullman wrote another book other than Ruby in the Smoke.
c.) has taken the time to read them.

They are sooooo neat. As good as C.S. Lewis and Tolkien, the critics say. Got witches and angels and sorcery and magic and monsters and gypsies and armoured bears and all sorts of neat things…there’s even a war against The Authority, God, oh, it’s so cool! -chortle- I can’t wait to go read the end of The Amber Spyglass again. Oh geez! Talks about original sin and adolescence and it’s a neat story…-rubs hands together- it’s so neaaaat…
So please, please, please, for the love of God if you have read these books, tell me! I need to know that I’m not the only person on the planet in love with this series! Help meeeeee!!

Yes, I read them and thoroughly enjoyed them. I also obtained the books on tape and am anxiously awaiting our next long road trip.
It was recommended as a sort of methadone program for those of us going through Harry Potter withdrawal awaiting the next volume. Unfortunately, now I’ve become addicted to Pullman. I’m just about finished the third book of the Sally Lockhart trilogy, then the Sally Lockhart offshoot, “The Tin Angel.”
Another very good fantasy trilogy is Alan Dean Foster’s “Journeys of the Catechist”, an imagination you just have to read to believe.
That she did… after much waiting and many trips to see if it was out in paper back yet… whew boy, good times with Searching. raises hands to ward off the inevitable violence that will spill forth to make him pay Since it seems “everyone” has read them and enjoyed them… mebbe I should take her advice and do so as well. Yes, now that I mention it I may do that… especially with saepiroth mentioning knives. Oh my.
