I’m looking for some skin/nail samples, from patients with active fungal infections. It’s going to be a gift for my girl. Just kidding. I need them for my micro lab. I used to be able to get them from our own clinical lab, but some stupid ass administrators shut it down. Now I’m SOL. I’ve called all the clinics and hospitals around here (Bay Area), but none of them are allowed to give out patient samples anymore…liability you know. I can always have the students use some stock cultures, but that takes away the clinical feeling. So does anyone in the Bay Area know of any clinics/hospitals that share or provide other institutions with patient samples? I know it’s a long shot, but I’ve gotta try.
Whatever happened to the days when I could just go down to the VD clinic and pick up some plates with viable gonococcus growing? I’ll let someone else start a thread about the US and all the stupid ass litigation that occurs within these borders…in the PIT of course.
