I need to find a kid who needs a bike...

I was just sitting here browsing the boards and watching some show on TV (No, I don’t know what show it is, I’m not really paying attention) and a Wal-Mart commercial came on. This year, one of their Black Friday sales items are kids’ bikes for $25. Now I don’t normally shop at Wal-Mart and I don’t normally shop on Black Friday, but damn, that’s a good deal.

Unfortunately, all my nieces and nephews have bikes, or are too young. (Is 3 years old really too young? )

Anyone know if you can fit a bike into a Toys for Tots box?

No deal would be good enough for me to venture into Walmart on Black Friday. As if it weren’t crowded enough already… ::shudder:: I salute your bravery, Kat.

That having been said, I need a bike. I’m 20–am I still a kid? Probably none of their bikes would fit me. On the other hand, I’m only 5’2" so you never know.

Call you state Dept. of Social Services or whichever department handles the foster care system in your area. Foster parents can almost always use any help they can get with providing Christmas for a bundle-o-kids. One year we had a huge mess of kids (some last minute placements in addition to our regular crew) and it was a bit of a struggle to get everyone properly covered with gifts.

The foster parent will thank you, not to mention the recipient foster child for such a cool gift

Check out freecycle.org . In my area there is a yahoo group that you can post any available, free item, and then someone can claim it. It’s rather interesting what you can get for free, and seeing what one person offers at once is somewhat amusing/odd. It’s free, and worth a try.

Three is fine time to learn to ride. Don’t forget the helmet!
