I Need to Have My Head Examined (Serious - Need Some Good Vibes)

The EEG went fine - I will get the results on Thursday. Staying up all night Thursday night was a challenge - I set my Palm to beep at my every 15 minutes so I only dozed off every so often. I put the documentaries from The Fellowship of the Ring 4 DVD Set in the DVD player and geeked out to that all night. I got a headache about 3 am that unfortunately lasted on and off all of ChiDope weekend. But I did doze off during the procedure - they gave me a sedagive (5 points to the first person who gets the reference). I really couldn’t sleep at all Friday during the day, though (maybe an hour), so I was a real zombie at Gundy’s Friday night, but UncleBeer and I still had fun. I still feel jet-lagged (but without the fun exotic vacation to go along with it) and haven’t slept well since.

This really is TMI. I should start using that LiveJournal, shouldn’t I?

I’m keeping my fingers crossed for those results on Thurday, porc!

Good news on the EEG - there’s no evidence of a seizure. Woohoo! There were some abnormal readings (insert your own joke here) that my neuro attributes to my migraines - I’ll talk to him about this in more detail when I see him in a couple of weeks. When I had an EEG a number of years ago, I was told that the read-outs were normal, so this is a different result.

So as we thought, the weird episode described in my OP was apparently a result of misdosing of my meds, jet-lag, and lack of sleep.

I’m such a lazy ass I still haven’t gone in for my blood work. I stopped in at the lab yesterday morning on my way to work, but they were short-staffed and there were at least a dozen people waiting ahead of me, so I’m shooting for tomorrow.

Thanks again to everyone for all the good thoughts.

I got my blood work results today, which were all pretty much A-OK. It looks like my iron level was even good enough that I can try and donate blood again.

I also got the statement from my (very sucky) insurance. The negotiated rate only took off about $1400 of the MRI/MRA. They cover 70% of lab work, not 80%. That means I’m responsible for almost $1600 for this one test. Fuck. The EEG ran about $660, so that’ll probably cost me a couple more hundred. I have no idea how much the blood work will cost me.

My maximum out of pocket this year is $3000. This may be the one year I reach that max.

But the important thing is: No TIA, no seizure, and only slightly abnormal brain waves. So all is well.

w00t!

Good deal, porcupine!
