Yes, hippos can be cute in their own way. They’re sloppy, odd-looking, awkward on land and sort of dainty in the water, and they are extremely ornery and aggressive. Somehow it can add up to a sort of diva-ish, I-don’t-give-a-fuck-what-you-think charm. And the baby pygmy in the story is extremely cute.

True, when they are being territorial, but despite that at least one has been successfully domesticated by some crazy South African couple. Here’s a vid of it eating with dogs, opening a door and being hand-fed.
Hippos are incredibly cute, but that won’t stop them from fucking killing your ass for even thinking about getting near their river.
