I was trying to come up with some creative new internet domain names when I got this mildly amusing idea. I was positive that someone else must have already thought of it so I checked to see who they were registered to. When I checked I was shocked to discover that they were not registered and as far as I can tell have never been registered. So now I am the proud owner of:
at $6.95 each, and I just had to show them off to you guys.
I could try and sell them on ebay for a quick few hundred (thousand?) bucks, but I think I’d rather try to do something with them. Being a Democrat (and one who’s been becoming increasingly loyal recently) I wouldn’t want to use them to slam Gore specifically or the Democrats in general. I think they might work as a site to amuse and educate about sound bites, misleading quotes, and political rhetoric in general. (Since, of course, Al Gore never did seriously claim to have invented the internet.)
For example, it could list various non-facts that people have been led to believe about various candidates or issues in the past, then give, or link to, the true story. It could be bi-partisan since both sides have been guilty of this.
Or I suppose it could just be some goofy animation of Gore dancing around building a server out of legos or something. Just joking!
Any thoughts on what I could do with them? Anyone want to pat me on the back and tell me what a clever boy I am? Or am I being undeservedly proud?
Godaddy.com[sup][/sup] has a sale right now. You can register .com and .info domains with them for $6.95 each. I think it’s the last day of the sale, they normally charge $8.95. Domains are much cheaper these days. There is no longer one lone monopolistic registrar and the competition has made a big difference. When and with who did you register yours? If your current registrar is still charging $25 for renewals then you may want to shop around because you can transfer a domain to a different registrar. Just be careful, go to someplace like namepros.com[sup]**[/sup] and read the discussion boards. There’s lots of discussion about people’s good and bad experiences with various registrars.
[sup][/sup]I have no connection with godaddy and I don’t make any recommendations about them one way or the other.
[sup]**[/sup]I also have no connection with namepros.com
That’s way too obvious to still be available. But, then again, I was shocked to find that mine weren’t already registered. I guess there’re still some possibilities left in the dot com tld.
Now I just have to figure out what to do with my new prizes.
