I own a geriatric dog (pointless, but includes dog pictures as appeasement)

I was looking through Bea’s vet papers and noticed that her species is listed as “ger.canine (>8 yrs)”. My dog is now officially an old fart.

Last year, we had a bit of a scare with her. That’s why I’m even more proud that the vet told me she could easily be mistaken for a two-year-old. Ears healthy, movement free and limber, very active, extremely friendly, bloodwork so regular you could just draw a line down the center of the paper. No reason she couldn’t live another eight years.

She’s a good dog. That’s basically my only point here.

Bonus pictures: old fart dog in Nuuksio national park last Saturday.

Who’s a good girl? Who is gonna be right here in Moma’s lap when she hears Aunt SCL talkin" about how good a girl that baby darlin puppy is?

To the OP: Be ashamed.

Awwww, who’s a good doggy! My Aunt Janet’s schnauzer lived to be 19, I hope Bea gives you that much joy.

I love that second picture. She looks so happy

All my dogs are old farts. Sixteen, fourteen and ten. Cassie and Queenie are a little stiff in their old age but other wise fine. Hanna appears much younger than her fourteen years.

I don’t understand why some people avoid older dogs when they are looking to adopt and by “older” I mean anything over five.

I adopted Queen at ten months but Cassie was nine and Hanna was thirteen.

Dogs can live a long healthy life and the senior dogs need love too.
