I-Phone Google Maps problem

Google maps, using the I-Phone App, won’t ‘find’ my current location anymore. Even clicking the blue button, I get a message that says I can’t be found. I haven’t changed any location settings on the device, and even if I had, every single other App that uses the GPS is working fine.

Only the Google Maps are affected. What haven’t I tried?

Have you tried turning it off and on again?
I know that sounds like a joke answer (from ‘The IT crowd’) but on an iphone it’s worth a try. Hold down the power button until you get a red slider which you slide to fully turn off the phone.

Isn’t IPhone’s Maps powered by the same Google Maps available through your browser? If so, then see if there is any problem through your browser.

Lobsang: not jerkish at all, but I have turned it on and off sever times
CC: odd thing there. I went into Google through my browser then to maps. No problem at all, got the prompt to allow it to use my location and voila!

So it’s only a problem in the App. Next step, try deleting and re downloading the App.

That’s what I was going to suggest, but it’s one of the ‘default’ apps that can’t be deleted and re-downloaded to the device. (unless there’s a ‘way’ to do it)

Go into Settings> General> Location Services, and make sure it’s turned on.

Thanks. That’s the very first thing I did. Every other gps app, including Google Earth works, just google maps is affected.

Then you stumped me, my only other idea would be to reset your settings. That’s ironed out some strange problems I’ve had in the past.

Winner!!!

Thanks, that did it.

Yay! I’m glad.
