I pit America

I initially meant to the “88” post, but somehow your quote was in the qute box.
W/i the time limit, I corrected the mistake but somehow you were still credited.
It was an error which I thought I had fixed.

Please accept my apology for confusing you with “Herr Kettenkrad”.

No worries. I piss off a lot of people here and in my life, it’s hard for me to remember who I’ve offended. Thanks for the quick response.

Oh god. I came across this today, and between the ascendance of the crazy right and the acceleration of the climate crisis, it was a gut punch.

And the slow moving coup worked. They had four years to convince people that the election was stolen from Trump and he should be put back in office. I’m actually surprised that he hasn’t said that winning this election absolutely proves he won the last one.

Yet.

Yet is to things Trump hasn’t done as in bed is to fortune cookies.

Does this count? (The link goes to The Straits Times.)

You’re a fucking genius! That’s an awesome comparison. But, of course, the sad thing is it’s true.

Nah, that was before he won. He’s probably saving it for his inaugural address of his grievances.

Good grief. I really am not looking forward to that.

I plan to spend 20 January 2025 under my covers.

Apologies if it’s been mentioned before and I missed it, but I really need to include the media — not just Faux et.al. — in the pitting. I know that bad news sells papers and gets viewers/clicks, but MHO the incessant focus on inflation, crime and other “calamities” created a miasma of fear (I saw one study that said the US population as a whole were more fearful than they’d been in decades). It’s been shown time and again that frightened people make bad decisions, and the US — not just “simple farmers, people of the land …” — have made one that will do the country, and the world, incalcuable harm in the years to come.

This times 1000. Fear is their sustenance.

No idea wherelse to post this - probably posted elsewhere, hopefully not Cafe Society (too political, no?)

SNL cast thinks Trump’s ok now

yikes - a caving in I’d rather not see.

Or is it satire? (The link goes to Yahoo.)

Ha! Well, there’s some egg on my face.
Ultimately, though, an ok egg on my face. :slightly_smiling_face:

Even as satire, it made me a little sick.

Probably from thinking about the number of people for whom it’s not satire.

The sheer quantity of people who know that Trump is abjectly unfit to be president but who supported him regaining the office because (they think) it would benefit him is what turns my stomach.

And they are not worried about the deportations, they are just going to put black people in as slaves. Or more like forced labor after being imprisoned.

Thats why they want to give the police immunity, they want to either kill black people or imprison us into forced labor.

That’s why they are not talking about deporting black people, but they hate latinos as well and want to deport all of them.

The want to put black people back in their place in their view and have us be their slaves again. This shit goes really deep.

And lots of black people voted for Trump or just did not vote.

Don’t waste eggs. Haven’t you heard how much they cost? /s

Hm.

I have long figured that “MAGA” meant a return to the 1950’s – to the era of Jim Crow and before the Civil Rights Act.

Silly me.

They want to take the US back to the 1850’s – to the era before Emancipation.

@split_p_j I stand corrected.

[That’s only about 46% tongue-in-cheek, sadly]

MAGA is full of defenders of the Confederacy, and regularly makes noises about how slavery was good and even wanting to reinstitute it. So I think it’s a perfectly defensible position to take that they are pro-slavery.
