I pit any action against Syria

I certainly do not begrudge this President from taking a moral stand against the use of chemical weapons, but I want us out of the role of global police. Lobbing missiles or even air attacks are nothing but symbolic and truly dangerous in an area of the world that is already so dangerously close to total breakdown.

Agreed. I think we should stay out of it.

I disagree.

The prime directive is a bullshit policy.

geez, wasn’t it just Egypt a few days ago & now this & then Iran I guess cos they will attack Israel…

Why do we have to go it alone? Isn’t this what the UN is for?

Obama wouldn’t be in this mess if he’d kept his mouth shut about “red lines”. Now he’s in a catch-22. Personally, I find that you’re just as dead if you get gassed to death as if you get shot or blown up to death; I wouldn’t enter this quagmire over it.

Then again, the man does need to live up to that Nobel Peace Prize he won. Nothing more peaceful than blowing some stuff up with missiles, or at least that’s what I hear.

No, but, come to think of it, this might be what the Arab League is for.

Russia.

Actually French are with you. Feeling better already?

So I’m not the only person that kinda has a problem with that. They were trying to paint it as “The credibility of the United States is at risk.” Uh, no, that’s not it and we didn’t need to put ourselves in this position.

I don’t think we’re at the point where a US military response is our only option yet, nor would it improve the situation.

So? If the UN, including Russia, won’t get on board with an attack, then maybe we shouldn’t be doing it. We better think more than twice before we throw a spark in the tinderbox of that part of the world.

I really couldn’t imagine that the administration would do anything stupider and wronger than get involved in a civil war in Libya that was meaningless to the U.S., but I appear to be about to be proven wrong.

Why the FUCK are we thinking about spending money in a war again? Can we please invade America and win hearts and minds by building bridges and improving schools? I don’t want to spend my money on anyone else right now! Billions of fucking dollars on wars in foreign countries and I swear to god if anyone ever whiiiiiiiiiines to me about another welfare mom costing us money I will bitch-slap them so hard their head will pop off.

Ahem. I, too, am against action in Syria.

yahbut, c’mon, we gotta use some of those weapons we have been buying - it will be a net job creator back home, stimulating demand, so that your welfare mom can get a job at the weapons factory.

You don’t get it. First we blow up their bridges, then we sell ‘em new ones. It’s a gold mine, a freakin’ gold mine, I’m telling you!

Er, I mean, I too am against sending exploding things at Syria.

No word yet where Canada stands on joining the call for military action against Syria, but I hope we stay out of it. Or any other mess of the week the springs up out of the ME from here on. I don’t get the rational behind this all of a sudden.

It’s fine to blow each other to bits with conventional methods we’re ok with that, but we draw the line at chemical weapons.

I, too, think we should stay out of Syria.

I couldn’t agree more.

I have a vision. A huge space ship from some distant spacely place comes down and grabs the warring factions in Syria. Then takes them back to Planet X and conducts some rather unpleasant tests to see why they can’t function like the rest of the human race (in general). In my vision the spacely craft has the words “tsarb omba” or something like that on the side of it. I think.

Other countries don’t, and shouldn’t, need the US to solve their problems. Let the Syrians deal with their own problems. When they do, we should offer them some neighborly help (but not a lot, not unsolicited, and not with the intention of telling them how to run their country).

I keep asking, if they succeed in ousting Assad, what do they think is going to take his place? Rose buds and rainbows? No, Nellie, it will be either total chaos or else the worst Islamic fundamentalism outside of Iran.

We need to stay the hell out of there.

And this is what we should say to Israel.

Para bailar tsarb omba, se necesita una poca democracia.
