I Pit Babale

Contempt is a pretty strong word, but sure, if that’s what you want to go with. When someone uses a term that makes absolutely no sense, not because of evidence but because of the emotional and rhetorical value of using said term, I use random capitalization to show that I am not impressed. It’s a pretty common usage on sites populated by millennials and younger.

Honestly, I’m pretty surprised it stands out to so many of you! That’s what I get for using Zoomer slang on a Boomer website, I guess

I was having a perfectly reasonable discussion with ThingFish as well as Puzzlegal, both of whom I have disagreed with, until you and BigT popped in to tell me that I’m a homophobe and to complain that anyone was still talking to me after I’ve been officially cancelled.

So that’s pretty rich, coming from you.

You don’t debate, you just insult and antagonize.

And here you are with your “I know you are, but what am I?” method of rebuttal. Talking to you is like talking to a teenager.

Like I said, I’m matching your energy. All you’ve contributed to this thread are insults and accusations towards me, so I don’t know why you think you’re entitled to anything more than that.

Sorry that I won’t allow your bigotry against people like me go unchallenged. But then again, you are the same person who supports Israel’s genocide against the Palestinian people, so I question if you have any morality at all.

And it never occurred to you that one might read your posts in this thread and believe that was your position? That it might be a good faith misunderstanding? That you might have been unclear in your posting?

:person_shrugging:

I hang out online with millennials, not zoomers. :woman_shrugging: Yeah, you are the unique person I’ve seen use that for anything other than replying to you. And it sure looks like contempt to me.

When the way that it strawmans me is something that I’ve specifically addressed multiple times? No, I don’t feel that way, not particularly.

Clearly you’re not on Reddit.

Sigh, it’s actually kind of depressing to be in a discussion and realize that the people you are asking for help or who did something you think is cool are in high school or college. Something that’s been happening to me a lot recently. I’ve been watching a lot of Minecraft YouTubes…

Nope, not on Reddit. I’ve been there a couple of times and didn’t like how things disappear, and you never see the same name again, and it’s really hard to find a discussion that interested me yesterday.

I haven’t played Minecraft since I was in high school. It was in like, alpha, or beta, at the time. There was none of the fancy stuff there is now - nether or magic or whatever.

We had pigs, sheep, cows, and chickens. We had creepers and spiders and skeletons. There was only one world. And we like it that way! Shakes fist at sky

Yeah, Reddit is much less of a community. Which is probably why it hasn’t been able to replace the Dope for me.

Oddly, a lot of the discords run by YouTube creators actually do feel like a community.

But, it’s disconcerting for this old lady to see a conversation that goes:

You should make this change to that video
Yes, but really, i want to reorganize a lot of my content. I plan to start working on that soon, but i just graduated from high school and I’ve been really busy.

Actually - that’s true. There are some communities I’m a part of on Discord. But, that doesn’t quite scratch the message board itch as much.

I also said

which pretty explicitly says that Babale may not have meant it that way.

@Babale, did you actually read my posts? Because speaking of misinterpreting what’s been said, you’re misinterpreting me quite drastically.

I suppose it is entirely possible that you are so socially oblivious that you didn’t consider the insulting implications of what you said, especially in the context of strenuously disagreeing with me, and that you genuinely meant no offense.

Or it’s entirely possible that you meant to be offensive. You’d be well within your rights, in the Pit. But then, don’t act so indignant that I’m offended.

It’s used to show you’re mocking the other person, isn’t it?

This kinda is a website for socially oblivious people. :woman_shrugging: I’ve always found @thorny_locust to debate in good faith.

Or that an idea is ridiculous, yes. I discussed it with my daughter, who lives on Reddit and Tumblr. Basically, we all understood it.

Yes, exactly.

I’ve played with friends on a shared server a few times. It’s fun to collaborate on big projects and see what other people build. We’re hoping our daughter will enjoy it and we can all play together as a family.
