It’s really, really funny that Babs’ position appears to be that, even after this failed war that has given Iran more power and influence than before, and weakened American munitions stocks and reputation and relationships, that it’s a good thing that Trump didn’t seek congressional authorization to start this war.

Yes, and Israel was fending off those missiles. It wasn’t an emergency to the US. Should the US have considered getting involved? Yes, we should take note when our allies are under attack. And also, this is EXACTLY when the deliberate process of having Congress discuss the issue and vote is valuable.
If there’d been an actual approval for a war (i know that “declaring war” is out of fashion, but we’ve still had congressionally approved modern wars) then there would have been the stomach to send soldiers there and plan for ships to stay in the area and…and who knows, maybe that’s a war we could have won. Or maybe we wouldn’t have gotten involved, and there’d still be boat traffic in the straight of Hormuz. Either would have been a better outcome than what actually happened, which is just a clusterfuck, advertising to the world that the US is weak along with the other problems.
