Sorry, now that I’m a full-time student again, I don’t get to visit the Dope as often as I used to (at my former job I Doped to my heart’s content all day ). I was browsing old threads that I missed and posted to this one, forgetting that it was a tad on the old side.
Anyway, ascenray, “pet name” is a much better term for it than “title.” No one would introduce himself to his wife’s friends by saying, “Hi, I’m Susan’s Bunny Foo-Foo.”
And Guinisatsia, if old threads upset you to the point of swearing, why did you open it, let alone post to it?
I dont’ know what kinda case it was or the facts, but as far as jurors go, there’s often a big difference between an M.D. and a PhD–especially if there are any injuries or medical information that have to be discussed. So the lawyer wasn’t being rude–for jury selection purposes he just mentally categorized an MD as Doc and non MDs as not-Docs, and was probably mostly scared when you “corrected” him, thinking he had missed an important detail.
He very much missed an important detail. As **mischevious **pointed out, the lawyers had specifically asked for detailed information about her educational background. Since she complied with their request, they certainly should take the time to address her by the title she earned.
