Metabolic syndrome, huh? I was just reading about this a day or two ago, lemme see if I can find it…
Aha! Found it. The answer is to smoke more weed. That may conflict with the good doctor’s suggestion of eating less though.

JohnClay, I think you’re absolutely right, and you are doing the right thing. I think you should listen to your mother, and follow this new diet. It sounds like it will work. Don’t listen to what anyone here says. In fact, don’t even mention it here, because people will just bring you down. You just need to do your own thing, and talk about it with the people who really care about you. Posting about it will only get you grief.
I found it interesting that yesterday my mum and then her good friend my wife were saying that I should be happy with how I am and to not lose any more weight…
On the other hand there’s this:
About a Rowan Atkinson pic I would be happy to look like:
I’m in-between. I’m not satisfied with my current appearance but on the other hand I think I have hope and think that Rowan Atkinson looks pretty good as a goal.
TMI. Really.
Oh sweet holy hand grenade. Just what the ever living fuck does this have to do with the Pit thread? Are we condemned to one massive Pit thread about your diets because you can’t open any more diet threads? (I’m going with yes.)
Bingo. So now I’m looking into ketogenic diets.
BTW as far as ketogenic (high fat, moderate protein, low carb?) diets go, I can easily find webpages that mention potential problems…

It all gets very complicated. But anyway the ketogenic diet I’m currently on is pretty much the same as the “Belly Fat Cure” diet except that I am allowing a certain amount of carbs per day (like that Whopper Jr bun).
BTW I like a site called Authority Nutrition which claims to be “an evidence based approach”. Here is an interesting article:
Bingo? So you’re admitting that this thread is now your diet blog?
Peace out, bro.
[whimper] … make it stop …
I think it would be awesome if you posted about this more.
Tell us in great depth about these fish and how the fishing went. Daily.
Monday:
A minnow. 4 inches. Silvery. 786 scales. Caught him with a worm (pink).
Tuesday:
Another minnow. 4.13" inches. Silvery but kind of not. 790 scales. Cricket (brown).
Endlessly fascinating!
Today after work I wandered around a supermarket for about 40 minutes picking things up and looking at the nutritional information. By habit I picked up $1.50 of seafood highlighter because it is low in calories. Then I looked at a photo of the nutritional information I stored in my phone from January. It is pretty high in carbs (14%) and is not a “whole food” so I had thoughts of taking it back or leaving it lying around. Near the end I had a look at the “health food” section, then the hardcore diet section (with special shakes, etc) and then the body building type section with bulk up powders, etc. I remembered that watermelon was pretty good so I looked it up on my phone… it is 30 calories / 100g. I had 5 kg of groceries (and a 5 kg backpack with a laptop) and there was about a 15 min walk home so maybe that will build up my upper body slightly.
“Seafood highlighter”? So you use it to color shrimp fluorescent yellow or something? Or is it a marker shaped like a lobster?
Blogs are allowed. See the blog about pigeon eggs that that guy blogs about here every year for evidence. It’s been going for 8 years and is 45 pages and 95% of all posts are by Siam Sam. If that’s not evidence for blogs being allowed here then I am a four-toed sloth. You’ll be happy to know that, “Ladyboy did lay her second egg right on schedule today.”

Also JohnClay don’t forget to do your kegels.
I partly have incontinence… I will try those exercises a bit…
I found a keto calculator:
Based on the pics I guessed I might have 20% fat or even a bit more:
This means my lean body mass is 59 kg (if I had no fat I’d be 59 kg).
About carbs on a ketogenic diet:
About protein:
The foods I eat with protein are usually around 10% or up to nearly 20%. I got 1kg of whey protein powder on eBay for AU$24 including postage. It is 84% protein and 6% carbs. I’ll have some of that if I need more protein.
I’ll probably have a lot of macadamia nuts to get my fat (particularly MUFA). It is 8.7% protein, 72% fat (58% MUFA), 5.5% carbs. I can get it for about AU$30/kg.
So if I have about 100g a day that’s 72g of fat (58g of MUFA) but only 5.5g of carbs.
Based on this:
I looked in another brand of probiotic. I previously was having Inner Health Plus (the ad is on a lot and says “Have you had your Inner Health Plus today?”). Then I saw an ad that says another brand has 10 strains of bacteria instead of 2.
http://www.healthy-lifespace.com/adult/broad-spectrum-probiotic-capsules/
It also doesn’t need to be refrigerated which would explain why it is quite a bit cheaper.
The protein powder I bought would be good for my health too since it has a lot of 18 different amino acids. I’m also having Pfizer’s “Centrum” which has 30+ nutrients.
Also from the calculator page:
So it says for me a 42% calorie deficit is the maximum deficit I should have but the good doctor said I should have a 50% calorie deficit…
Also:
When it comes to daily calorie intake, that’s just about the same. The difference between a six-inch sandwich and a five-inch sandwich isn’t going to make you much more hungry, nor trim a measurable amount from your waistband.
The good doctor was right, and the book is right too. There is more than one way to diet. For it to work, you’ve got to do it regularly and consistently, and mix it with exercise.
You’ve failed miserably in your attempt to impeach DrFidelius.
By the way, in actual point of fact, by what percentage have you reduced your caloric intake? I’m willing to bet you haven’t even come close to 42%, let alone 50%.
I’m not good at counting exact calories so I don’t know. In my previous post it said that my chosen calorie deficit is 20%. For 20% it says “Moderate Deficit: Fast weight loss with moderate difficulty.” If I choose 40% it says “Severe Deficit: Are you sure? Try a 20% deficit if you fail”
A 42% maximum deficit means 42% maximum. i.e. 50% is not allowed.
For the love of god, just shut up.
Anybody want to hear about a lump of green putty I found in my armpit?
I can readily accept that our pal is mentally ill, but I think the deliberate trolling is incidental to that. Some individuals are such pathetic attention whores that even the most contemptuous ridicule serves as a positive reinforcement because it validates the fact that they exist.
