They hired him a coach for the accent…the coach they hired him was IRISH. Get an American guy known for broad humor and no subtlety to do a cockney accent he learned from an Irish guy and you get Bert in Mary Poppins.

I presume Fenris knows B n K has some recycled songs rejected from other Sherman Bros movies including Mary Poppins.
I don’t have a dog in this fight (except that MP is infinitely superior to B&B), but I just wanted to say thank you too all that expressed love for “Feed the Birds”. I always thought I was an odd duck because that was always my favourite song from the movie. I feel a little less alone this afternoon.
Not sure how I came across this, but wanted to resurrect it with the speculation - are there any roiling pit threads over, say, Lost Horizon? Can’t Stop the Music? Umbrellas of Cherbourg?
