I pit Flash videos. Youtube, Metube, HeSheIttube, whatever

Yes, well, that’s why it’s called a video “player” rather than a video “editor”.

Ahunter3, aren’t you a programmer? I realize that doesn’t imply universal knowledge of all computer technologies, but you seem to be unfamiliar with some really basic concepts, which is surprising if you have a professional tech background.

I didn’t know HeShetube was a freeporn site until you posted it. But, all the girls have stingers.

[does search on “HeSheTube”.]

:gasp:

Holy Mother/Father/Other of God! I thought you were joking!

 You weren’t. :o [vomit smiley]
Seriously! That’s an NSFW search. Don’t try that search at work. Don’t even try it at home, unless you have a strong stomach, and a very understanding SO.

Oh man, I know I shouldn’t have, but I laughed like a drunken fool when I read your post.

I’d be in the dog house if my gay friends read my post, and deservedly so, but crap, that post was funny.

I get this, but why can’t someone come up with a way to allow downloading and saving with the ads included? From the standpoint of viewing experience, it wouldn’t be perfect, but it would be a lot better than not being able to save a local copy at all. Back in the days of VCRs I never refused to record a show that I wanted to watch just because the commercials would be included. Sure, it was better if I could record a movie without commercials, but if that wasn’t possible because the program was on a commercial station, then so be it. It was still better than not having the opportunity to record it at all.

From the standpoint of the sponsors, that might be ideal. From the standpoint of the video archive site, it’s anything but. If you download a video, even with ads, you don’t need to return to the archive site to watch it, therefore the site doesn’t get the credit for eyes drawn.

I’m guessing my advice in post #3 didn’t solve the problem?

KeepVid has certainly become viable again since the last time I tried it. Still has the same limitation (doesn’t snag videos from all sites) but I’ll definitely make use of it next time I want one off youtube.

Contact the creator of the video and ask for them to send you a copy of the video file. Flash video sites are meant to store videos that are viewed via the web not saved as local copies. The fact that you can sometimes do that does not mean you are entitled to do that.
