I’ve seen you mention the 'Raffers in a couple of threads lately (this one and your most recent in ATMB) that leads one to believe you know their workings pretty well. Now, in the interest of full disclosure, I hang out there too and don’t quite seem to view it as the cesspool your posts intimate. If you find them and their ilk so distasteful, why do you read there?

It’s unfortunate, because Twitter actually does have some problems that are worth pitting. For instance, twitter won’t respond to rape threats unless they are direct and specific.
So if someone tweets “someone should rape you” that’s fine. It’s only if they tweet “I’m going to rape you this Saturday” that they will respond to it as a violation of their terms and conditions.
Oh, are you suggesting these people all come from the same place, pass around details of threads here, often instigated by their own Mods, and then come and post here? I had no idea. Colour me shocked.
Couldn’t possibly comment on stuff that happens on another board. Certainly I have no knowledge of people gathering together on other boards to egg one another on to post trolling things here. That would be some sort of, I don’t know, “board war”, and we good Dopers would never have any truck with that.
So of course no-one else would do that to us, either. And if they did, we couldn’t mention it here. Because we’d be instigating just for mentioning it, right?
And to answer your question, I search this board via Google, and …other sites… show up in those search results occasionally, that mention me by username. Which I read now and then, because who wouldn’t? Although now I suppose it’ll be less someone still holding onto what I said years ago about Cesario, and more just outright baiting. So it goes in Nonnydom.

I was hoping this was going to be a Pitting of all the XX folk on twitter whose every post is about how sexy they are, how horny they are, how crazy they are, how drunk they are, blah blah friggin blah. Bleah.

People can follow you on Twitter without you following them. The douches could have found OurLordPeace’s tweets from people they follow, or by searching hashtags, or maybe some other way, and be responding to those tweets. It was OurLordPeace’s choice to engage with the trolls, but I can understand that it could be difficult to ignore them.
Yeah, stuff like this bothers me. I don’t know exactly where Twitter should put down the line, but they definitely need to look at their terms and conditions and revise them.

Actually, I first saw this thread through an even more nefarious method. I have a special link that lists all the threads in the BBQ Pit forum in chronological order. This thread appeared on my master list, I clicked on it, and the rest is history.
