About 5 years ago I used the services of monster.com to find some people to work for my company at the time.
Since then, they have called me a few times per year to ask me if I would like to post new jobs. Starting about 3 years ago (I guess) I got annoyed with them when they called, and asked them not to call me anymore. They still call. Each time they call, I get just a little bit angrier and explain that the last person I spoke with assured me that there would be no more calls… Somehow they always convince me that it won’t happen again.
They just called me again. Before the guy could say much, I cut him off and let him have it. He said he’d make sure that they didn’t call me again.
Me: “But do you have a note in your system already? The last person said they’d add a note…”
Him: “Yes sir, I see the note. We were merely calling to find out why you don’t want us to contact you anymore and to see if you need our services now, since it has been six months since we last called.”
“I’m merely punching you in the back of the head because it’s been 10 minutes since you requested that I stop punching you in the back of the head, and I wanted to see if required my back-of-the-head-punching services once again.”

If you have the time, call them to tell them you still don’t need their services.
Get the name and direct (if possible) number of the person who called you. Call them every single day. Twice. Try to keep them on the phone as long as possible. Ask to speak the their supervisor (and tell them why you don’t need their services). Put them on hold.
At a former job, the receptionist paged me to tell me that I needed to turn off the “Do Not Disturb” function on my phone, as she wasn’t able to contact me via the intercom. Yeah, she was blond…how did you know?
I once checked into a motel and asked for a wake up call at 5:00 AM. At 2:30 AM, some idiot at the front desk called me to ask if I were the guy who wanted a 5:00 AM wake up call.
